I've loved this man for years and when I mention him to most people predominantly into jazz they seem unaware. Often when I share it folks are relatively unimpressed, am I missing something? Perhaps he isn't the most gifted player at a particular instrument, but he plays several and his compositions are incredible! Quite a few seem to have many contrary themes running but they all fuse together brilliantly and give me a great impression of the inherant harmonies of a sometimes discordant world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WP5ZfEmWE9w&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vb_et4QkLWg The complete UA sessions are gold.

Husker Du

I don't know why, but I never seem to meet many people who are in to Husker Du. It doesn't make any sense to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1sYN0PuRs4 Definitely one of the best and most creative bands to come out of the early 80s hardcore scene. They thought nothing of releasing a two-disc concept album... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogHIUNfu2vY And at the same time, they wrote catchy pop songs which had a massive impact on the development of "alternative rock" etc. in the late 80s and onwards. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLKYngRjbQc I know there are some fans on here so let's talk about our favourite songs, records etc…

i hope i'm right here and i'm hoping if i am, someone else should remember what i'm talking about. wayyyyyy back in 2004 (i know it had to have been, couldn't have been much later), there was a email list-serv arranged by someone who i believe was a poster on watmm, and this person was either of latin american (brazilian or agentinean possibly)? and amongst the many local suggestions he sent out an album by axel krygier, echale semilla, which i took with me on a hunch to a recent trip to argentina just on a hunch and i completely fell in love with it. so first off, 1. who are you who so graciously provided this suggestion? 2. do you have any other sugges…

It's obvious that acid music is passe. As someone that only knows how to make acid I'd like to hear from you, its detractors, about what you dislike about it.

So i've been doing a talk radio show with my sister for the past year, recently when we upload our show to soundcloud it actually will block our upload because it finds within seconds (This is not a real person listening to it and detecting this, its an algorithm) a copyrighted snippet of a song we're using for the bumper music. What other websites do this? I find this a very dangerous precedent for anyone who's made a DJ mix or who's sampled copyrighted material in their own music. I don't want to give the mainstream record labels any ideas but what if they just buy up a huge chunk of all the digital music out there and as a death cough retroactively sue everybody w…

highest recommendation thus far [alongside the new 2562] sculpture - rotary signal emitter the record comes like that. i haven't bought a copy just yet but plan to. it's fucking great music, totally innovative and interesting blend of repetitious hypnosis trance [of the fractal, constantly evolving, endless portal vortex kind] mixed with lots of noise, freeness, and BEATS to bring it all together into a very interesting musical pacakge. check it out.

squarepusher Rob Clouth
by Guest ryanmcallister- 12 replies

How has he not blown up yet? His Vaetxh project is literally the most groundbreaking work I have ever heard. His style is sort of a mash-up of "Empty The Bones Of You (CLARK)" style pads/melodies with intense "Kill Robok (Squarepusher)" style drums and sound design. Utterly brilliant. My jaw has been on the floor all weekend. Check him out, he's got over an hour's worth of music on Soundcloud: http://www.soundcloud.com/robclouth
