the yards - 7/10 - he really is a great director, he can conjure a mood and an atmosphere like no other, but similarly to "we own the night" the script and especially dialogue is a couple of sizes too small.

I should go back and rewatch it, I didn't realize it was a flawless movie when I was younger.

Oh man, Insidious. Fucking humongous LOL at that movie. Absolute shitfest. And it started kind of okay!

pet sematary is terrible. the book is probably king's best under his own name (the only time gay supernatural stuff isn't a let down as far as i'm concerned), but the movie holds none of the atmosphere, pace, scares. nothing. i fell asleep twice trying to get through it.

the sequel is kinda ok-ish, not connected to original story at all, but at least edward furlong delivers as lead.

how can Paul Giamati ruin an already horrendous film?

i disagree i liked it. i'm sure it didnt go far enough for you but it showed the corrupting influence of politics

recommend me good horror stuff then

form the peak of 80s cheese horror that also gave us pet sematary:

braindead

there's nothing out there

basket case

evil dead II

poltergeist

the stuff

alone in the dark

bad taste

killer klowns from outer space

necronomicon

sleepaway camp

critters

some notable camp king adaptations from the same period:

cat's eye

maximum overdrive

enough?
