i don't know if this has been touched upon, but is anyone else getting a melodies from mars feeling from some of these tracks?

yeah, I mentioned this before. cirklon 1 in particular.

I really like the way this was promoted, it's as if it's almost solely about the synth, with the music being kinda secondary. Like an exhibition on the sounds the cheetah is capable of.

Yeah, I have the same feeling.

I think Syro is some of his absolute best, but maybe Analord is a bit more enjoyable to me than what I've heard of this EP so far. Either way, the drought is over and he says he's got some bangers in store for us too. Pretty generous IMO

I hear ya!

I like it. There's some really cool little jams. Cirklon3 is still the standout for me. That little squirrely bassline gets me in the feels with the aphex detuned pads/chords. Beautiful.

After a couple of listens via various streams - this has to be the most homogeneous record he's ever released? Pretty much the same vibe, tempos, timbres, instrumentation, techniques, etc, on all of it?

Do you mean it in a positive or a negative way?

I agree it is pretty homogenous or maybe thematic is more accurate, odjs is pretty consistent the whole way through, as is ccai2, even Syro come to think of it... maybe its a later development, these kind of thematic releases. I would even say Analord is like a variations on a theme, a lot of explorations within certain parameters.

Maybe the collage style album was an earlier approach and with drukqs he probably reached a nexus of being varied and yet somehow overall coherent to reach his new album style. Nothing wrong with it in my opinion.

Having listened to this a bunch of times I don't have any analysis or anything, just really enjoying another solid Aphex release!
