Believing in UFO's and aliens is the modern iteration of religious thinking. Gods, angels and magic has been replaced by aliens and advanced technologies. They also offer the "saviour" aspect and prophets (abductees).

not a modern  phenomenon at all, the belief as been going on before most 'modern' religions- christianity, islam etc

They are beings from another dimention and theyr faking with us with all of this ufo shits and crop circles. Human kind knows about their existence since the dawn of man. We were always been in contact with them. They were gods to many nations. Things changed after the birth of monotheism...especially with judaism and after.

that's true. it probably fits better with the secular humans plausibility structures. still serves the same function. i believe that there is other life out there, some of it perhaps advanced, but don't believe that we will ever come across any.

this is what i was asking about tabby's star, arguably the most reliable evidence at the mo of an advanced civilisation that we know of. with distances in space its not surprising we haven't discovered, or yet been discovered, but again many would disagree with that.

odds are that anomaly at tabby's star is a natural phenomenon that is yet to be discovered. it being some alien superstructure would be a very cool discovery. the next generation of planet seeking satellites ought to have the capability to analyze the atmosphere of planets and from there see if there are civilizations on it. perhaps we'll discover other life on around distant stars, but we'll never be able to communicate with them.

It's obviously cthulhu blocking out the light, why is an alien superstructure somehow any more reasonable?

If aliens existed that actually have the technology to reach us that would mean that they are much further developed than humanity which would mean that they either don't care about us at all because they have all the universe to explore and we're just not special enough to make contact with us (we're like bacteria to them) or they see our planet as a ressource or raw material - in that case they would destroy us probably faster than we could notice - or they see us as an phenomenon that must be studied - in that case they wouldn't make contact but rather observe us without us noticing (they would have the technology for that). In either way they won't show themselves to us. So it doesn't make any sense to believe in UFOs only because one saw a photoshopped UFO picture or some lights in the sky. Would be kind of cool if they existed though

bet their weed is intense

had 2 experiences now, neither alone.....moving lights at low altitude in broad daylight w/zero sound, the most recent of which me mate filmed on his phone. If he ever sorts thru his myriad of familial chores it'll be on youlube b4 too long

the most bizarre aspect of both "events" /iswas that i've never really thought about them after, only to describe to them to others who've asked

the first situation was 2 orange orbs in formation flying low over an olde colliery about 8pm mid-summer..... the same light was also filmed by a South Wales Police helicopter over Cardiff & out into the Bristol Channel. It even appeared on the regional news bulletins. Whoever leaked this their boss musta been fuming

then late last month on an escarpment above Hay on Wye my mate filmed the single orbs flitting from one hill-line to the other, again completely silent for a good half an hour, the light would glow for 20secs, go off, only to reappear 2 to 3 miles/best guess away almost instantaneously. This 1 spooked me far less as the main SAS base near Hereford is only down the road & they do all kinds of exercises local to this view-point

ARIENZ ARE REAL

What's fucked up is that most people don't realize how alien every single non-human animal form is, so it's not likely that average humans can recognize an alien from lightyears away.  "OMG, it's an alien!"  "No- it's something new we discovered that lives at the bottom of the ocean."  "Oh."  (just because it lives on the bottom of the ocean, does not mean that it does not also have a vacation condo many lightyears away)

Everything is alien.  Humans are on an alien planet, living with a shitload of other aliens.  If you cannot see this, then you cannot know aliens.
