Explosions at Brussels Airport and metro

Around 8 o' clock this morning there were two explosions at Brussels Airport (Zaventem) and one in a metro station near EU Commision Headquarters.

The atmosphere is quite tense, even here in Antwerp. Schools are advised to stay closed and keep the children inside. My girlfriend is a kindergarten teacher and may have to stay till 9 o' clock tonight.

It's a guess right now that it may be connected to the arrest of Salah Abdeslam a few days ago.

I would suggest you are correct.

Beeb headline at this moment says:-

Airport blasts kill 11, wound 81, says Belgian health minister
At least 15 people killed and 55 injured in Maelbeek metro station bombing

Explicitly stating the word "bombing"

This is going to end very badly once a significant number of people lose their patience. A circle of extremes.

Interesting article from a contact of a contact in Belgium - authored way before this attack:

I'm pretty sure I remember the media repeatedly mentioning Brussels as being linked in the aftermath of the Paris attacks.

Yeah, I found it weird after the Paris attacks because Brussels was the only other place on high alert. Guess this was why.
