Aphex Twin Rhino records
by Guest Mr Salads- 1 reply

Rhino is just his U.S. distributor, so I thought it was weird to see it on a "rumor" page where Aphex might be playing at coachella. What the hell would rhino do to book him for gigs? Isnt that done through your label? I know he runs one but just releases afx on that right, he is still not allowed to use the aphex twin moniker when he chooses.. What Im trying to say is, if theres a rumor aphex is coming to coachella by way of rhino, that's bullshit because rhino would have nothing to do with that.

I recently picked this press release kit up on ebay, it has 8x10 shot of RDJ (common photo seen online) and 2 pages of press info. Some typos and mis-information is present here, not surprising. 'Girl/Boy Son'! that's a new one...

All of the above tracks won with relative ease in round 1, so the matches will prove to be a bit more challenging in this round. Here we go, pick your favorite from each of the 8 matches Here's how the bracket looks so far: http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?tid=256912 Also, try and not to get locked into which one is recognized on here as the better track.. which one do YOU like better. Take the two and think about which one you would rather listen to at any given point and vote accordingly.

Tiny bits that should have been an entire track

Everytime I listen to the introduction, the first few seconds, of "To Cure A Weakling Child, Contour Regard", I start praying that they never end. They do everytime, though. What other seconds should have been made an entire track of?

Did Richard use a 303 for the acid bassline ? If no, does that means it's not Cornish ? Does Scooby Doo refer to the song as Cornish Racid ? seriously is that a 303, to me it doesn't really sound like it.

My god, I can't stop listening to this song. Don't get my wrong I love Ziggomatic 17 but in my opinion this song is just 100 times better. The way it melts back and forth from an ambient peice to a harsh fast song is just crazy. The song is other worldly, and that last part at the end with the insane tremelo sort of effect...damn.

Anyone else ever notice how excellent a lot of Richard's tracks sound at a different RPM? Wanting to get the most out of Aphex's music, I have dedicated and re-burned many of his tracks either slowed down to 33 1/3 or sped up to 45; I must say, the results have been stunning - many of the songs sound completely transformed and gorgeous after being exported These are my finds: BEST RESULTS from: 45 to 33 1/3 In Aphex: AFX237 V7 COME ON YOU SLAGS CRAPPY (from any live shows) - insane DEVIL'S HAIRCUT REMIX DIGERIDOO FLIM HEXAGON - beautiful ISOPROPANOL METAPHARSTIC - so dark POLYNOMIAL-C TAMPHEX - hardcore VENTOLIN (ASTHMA BEATS) …

Well here we are and I must say the matchups are quite immense already! Luckily there was an even split amongst the top 32 tracks so there was no need for a quailying playoff- 54 cymru beats just missed the cut. I've taken the liberty to assemble four divisions very roughly based on style and/or RDJ era. Very roughly mind you, but rest assured the games will be thoroughly compelling throughout the entire duration of the tournament. If you're not familiar with the format, it's quite simple. The number to the left of the track represents its seed. There are four divisions, each division has seeds 1-8. Seed #1 is the favorite while #8 is the biggest underdog. T…

These are arranged in alphabetical order. I highly recommend listening to every one of them briefly to remind yourself which ones they are before making your picks as this is the real deal!! The top 32 vote-getting tracks will be included and seeded in the tournament accordingly. My criteria for the above tracks listed was that the track had to be mentioned more than once in the phase 1 thread. IF YOU DON'T SEE YOUR FAV TRACK LISTED, please write it in, and I will keep a tally of those as well. Alright! Let's do it!!

How am I supposed to ever see my favorite DJ live if he never comes to the states anymore? I know he's been here several times in the past from looking at the gig downloads. But why has he avoided the US in the past several years? Maybe because of all the losers here that like crap music...

hello guyz. I would like to do a miniature tournament whereby 16 songs composed by richard d james (aphex twin, afx, powerman 5000, the tuss, etc) compete for the title as RDJ's best song. first we are going to nominate the songs. then we will seed them for the tournament. and then they will compete against each other in 4 rounds through the finals to see who wins. it will be easy and fun. this thread will be the first step: nominating the songs. so without any further adieu, nominate a couple of your favorite tracks now! for me: ziggomatic heliosphan acrid avid jam shred death fuck 4 here is the complete discography for your reference…

TUSS vs. LAST STEP 1 2
by Guest tomaswoj- 36 replies

Im surprised not to see any comments, how Tuss resembles Last Step's Last Step - or the other way around. Similar structures, similar melodic dysonans. For me it sounds as prequel (or sequel) to Tuss's stuff although lacks such gems like Rushup Bank. What is your opinion on this ?
