Favourite albums of the last 10 years?

Crazing

Recommended Posts

I've kind of stopped listening to music...used to be obsessed with everything new but now just check out the usual Autechre, Aphex, Squarepusher etc

I'd appreciate some recommendations say from 2015 onwards...electronic

I understand some people hate lists but they are kind of useful.

Nils Frahm - Music for Animals

Tyler, The Creator - Call Me if You get Lost

Charles Bradley - Black Velvet: Stripped-Down Mixes - EP (kinda cheating but...)

Agnes Obel - Citizen of Glass

Carter Burwell - The Banshees of Inisherin (Original Score)

Those are the only full albums I've bought the last 10 years, haha

Albums from 2014-2024 that have stood the test of time and still get repeated listens. The usual eclectic selection from me, but have kept it vaguely electronic at least. Noise/techno/ambient everything between and beyond.

Perc - Bitter Music

Rolando Simmons - World Building

Prurient - Rainbow Mirror

Jason Crumer - Thin Ice

Polypores - Flora

Disgusting Cathedral - Adventurers Despised & Rejected

Nathan Fake - Blizzards (and the Sunder EP)

Kinlaw & Franco Franco - Mezzi Umani Mezze Macchine

Venetian Snares x Daniel Lanois Collab (plus the bonus disc)

Kjostad - Environmental Electronics

Caretaker - Everywhere at the end of Time

Same. About 10 years ago my interest in new music suddenly nose dived. But I figured I had three decades of intense music discoveries to go back and relisten to which gave me great happiness and I also did a lot of intense investigating into the back catalogues of those artists, so I wasn't just wallowing in nostalgia (a place I'm a bit wary of) and I found this more rewarding than listening to new music.

I was finding all most all new music I was listening to I would say 'that sounds like such past artist and they did it better' 'that sounds like such past band and they did it better' not a good mindset. I also went through a phase, as an experiment of going out my way to listen to Pitchforks best rated albums by new artists, I can't remember liking any of them, most of them I'd bin after a few tracks. So of course one comes to the question. Is it because I'm getting old and cannot connect with new music? Or is new music just crap? I don't actually know.

Off the top of my head the only artists I listen to who aren't relatively ancient is Sunn O, OPN and Skee Mask. Though the first two aren't exactly spring chickens 😀

Man, it's really troubling me that I can't think of anything, despite listening to and researching music every day?

So this is growing old...

Sometimes I feel stuck in the past but then suddenly some artist coming up from nowhere like Skee Mask, I start listening and thinking "Wow this is the shit!"
Also it is mostly thanks to WATMM I get into most of the artist I never heard before.. Checking up Topdown Dialectic atm, sounds wicked

Currently really dig this new album Pyl by Onokio
