How does the World view America these days?

I've literally watched that bloated gasbag incite violence and give people paranoid doomsday theories for years. About time. What he did with the people who lost children at Sandy Hook is just despicable.

maybe this will b a catalyst for people to talk to each other finally

edit: i mean with a goal in mind other than wrecking and ridiculing the other side

This seems a little naive. For the left, this is like protecting an endangered species that has a loud and extremely annoying mating call, walks onto and blocks roads, and is plain ugly. They might protect it on principle but not with a smile on their face.

And they might not even want to protect it. I think the left is fed up with how increasingly petty the right's modus operandi has become. Obama trying and failing to work with a stubborn Republican congress, especially during his first term, was probably a turning point. The rise of Antifa and similar groups are an indicator that we are in an era of urgency and pragmatism over sticking to principles for principles' sake.

Also I'm not sure about Seder's assessment... maybe what the media companies should do is to state that they are dropping him because he's misrepresenting himself as news, and let him bounce down the steps to whatever non-news provider (e.g. porn site) is willing to host his content. However, there's at least couple of forces influencing them all to act in lock step as it has panned out: 1) not wanting to be seen by casual liberal/moderate visitors as an Infowars-friendly site and 2) not wanting to be seen by noisy conservative trolls as an Infowars-friendly site. #1 might have slower/subtler/more complex effects but it's pretty easy to imagine where #2 goes.

180807-woman-arrest-under-the-influence-

A boozed-up South Carolina woman pulled over for blowing past a stop sign at 60 mph told cops she shouldn’t be arrested because she’s a “very clean, thoroughbred, white girl,” according to a police report.

“I mean I was celebrating my birthday,” Cutshaw, who turns 33 on Thursday, told the cops when they asked her how big the glasses were for her alleged two drinks, according to the report.

“I’m a white, clean girl,” Cutshaw said, according to the report.

When the officers asked what exactly that meant, she replied, “You’re a cop, you should know what that means.”

Having not watched any of either “side”, the point is this: Facebook et al. are private companies. They are well within their right to deny Jones the use of their platform.

If the government was actively preventing Jones from exercising his right to speech, then there would be an issue.

Jones is welcome to host his own content on his own site.

Why this would bring people from either “side” to the table as if it were some contentious point is not clear.

is the acting in unison of these corporations that nobody seems to like

how that might be solved is up for discussion but it does appear to be a common point of contention, I could b wrong ofc

Maybe it only appears as if they are acting in unison? The reality is probably a domino affect, the others were just waiting for someone to lead.

Regardless, these companies have terms of service, and are within their right to prevent someone using their services if they deem those terms violated. If Jones believes he has been wrongly denied access to the platform, he can take the companies to court. I am sure there are many willing lawyers ready to go to work for free on his behalf.

Also, I am 100% certain that the “right” wouldn’t be taking the stance the “left” is taking if it was someone like say...Noam Chomsky (as another individual who offers critique of state power) who got removed from these sites.

Yeah I think this is more likely, like, oh that other site pulled him... so we don't have to keep this guy around anymore? Cool, looks like he did violate our ToS, let's axe him. Just keeping up with the joneses is a pretty powerful force, I mean look at what's been going on w/ Android/Samsung and Apple for years.

Ugh, who knows what's more likely... all round it just looks like a shitty precedent to set and it gives way too much fuel to the conspiratorial narratives (from my pov)

It does sound like she was trying to speak their language.

She kept mentioning she was clean. Maybe she was arrested for vaginal bribery as well as drunk driving.

Tech Companies Banned Infowars. Now, Its App Is Trending.

“This is such a niche app with niche content, that for it to make that sort of jump means it has become very interesting to a much broader audience,” said Jonathan Kay, a co-founder of Apptopia, an app analytics firm. “Essentially, it’s gone from being niche to being mainstream.”

I think it's great that infowars got removed from everything, it's not like nambla has a great online presence either. Freedom of speech blablabla Fuck him.

Jack Dorsey actually gave this reason in a tweet

But doesn't that enable conspiracy theorists? Doesn't that say, hey, you can come up with whatever conspiracy conveniently serves your goals and if enough excitable ignoramuses believe in it, then you can control big companies' behavior? That really sucks.

I think the real reason they don't want to ban is that they don't want to have to then ban Trump who probably has also violated their ToS. If they banned him, the ensuing wrathful tantrum could legit be a national security concern.

I suppose you pick which conspiracy theory you cater to.. i can't imagine how impossible making these kinds of descitions must be
