I don't know if it has already been mentioned, but part of the reason Florida is so Florida is actually that any official interaction between police and citizens, no matter how small, is part of the public record, which isn't the case for other states. Because every weird little thing is out there, they get picked up for slow news day stories and suddenly it seems like Florida is he world center for people doing dumb stuff.

 

That doesn't mean that the stereotypes about Florida are any less true, but it DOES mean that the other states are a lot more like Florida than we realize.
