lol can anyone believe that trump is president? It's still unreal.

What's unreal is we are on page 444 of this thread with 3 years left at least. (if we're lucky)

The final page count of this thread should easily be enough to fill a book. Compile it & sell it.

Yeah, definitely, but it's more abut psychological stability and baseline competence than about policy.  On policy they're not all that different, and where they ARE different it's more a matter of degree than intent.

Isnt Trump preferable to dubya? In as much as the depth of his ineptitude is so great that less evil republican shit will get done.

George W. Bush was a puppet for the cabinet that was basically set up by his father. His administration is still responsible for two wars and the patriot act (one of the worst things to happen to American civil liberties). It was also responsible for using the NSA to illegally spy on American citizens. So in general, he should be strung up for crimes against humanity.

This. If you told W you think he did something wrong he'd sincerely look at you and say he did what he thought was right as president for the county. If you tell Trump you think he did something wrong, assuming he let you finish a sentence without barking back, he'd say "no I'm not, you're wrong."

Even if you propose they are virtually the same in ideology there's a huge difference in their professionalism. W didn't watch the news and rarely spent time paying attention to any form of pop culture. His only free time (except vacation, which he often spent clearing ranch land brush) was spent jogging. His insane cabinet members (Cheney, Rumsfeld) were balanced out by people like Rice and Powell. We're really in chartered territory compared to the worse (and believe me, they were dark times) of Bush or Reagan.

Pretty insightful interview with W to compare with Trump as a person

Dubya and his admin were shit regardless of their methods. just cos Herr Trump has outshitted them by miles doesn't mean we can rose-tint them in retrospect.

also

The president was silent for a moment and then turned on McCabe, suggesting he ask his wife how it feels to be a loser

...

McCabe replied: “OK, sir."

lol

The whole Snowden thing and the lead up to this administration has made a lot of people unfairly demonize our intelligence agencies(this was intentional), but I actually respect them more than ever. Now that I actually have to think about them.

It’s unclear why Republicans think they have a smoking gun; the memo also allegedly indicates Trump’s deputy attorney general continued surveillance of the former Trump aide. Nunes hasn’t read the intelligence on which his memo is based, according to the Justice Department, and has refused to share the memo with Justice, FBI, or the Republican Senate Intelligence chairman. The Pink Panther-level mishandling would be comical if it weren’t real.

Nunes and his allies have apparently decided that protecting Trump, whatever the cost, is the quickest way to promote a shared agenda of loosened regulations, tightened immigration, tax cuts for corporations, and more.

“They have created now an animal they can’t contain,” Schiff said ruefully. “I don’t know where this is going to end.”

The House Intelligence Committee GOPers voted to release the memo, but did not allow the committee Dems to release their response to it. From reports of people that has seen it, says it's a big nothingburger and will further embarrass Nunes and generally the GOP who are so clearly trying to run interference on the Mueller probe.

It's a big shit sandwich alright.

And I can't wait for all the "Trump became president today" hot takes after his SOTU address, because the US media is useless and worthless.
