https://boomkat.com/products/action-potential-2cf13414-905c-4859-9f18-7747dfb0098b This record compiles the results of Rian Treanor's music workshop for visually impaired adults. A fantastic concept, exposing a load of northern pensioners to avant garde deconstructed club music, and getting them to produce it themselves using bespoke software/hardware. A laudable endevour in and of itself and the results are certainly not amateurish in the slightest, hints of Autechre, SDEM, Gabor Lazar, Grischa Lichtenberger that kind of thing, and of course Treanor himself who I can only imagine did all the sound design while Anne, Mick and Katherine jammed about with the arrangeme…

I think this is the first 'conventional' FSOL EP since We Have Explosive back in the '90s. From the subtitle of pre8ep001, my guess is it's material from the Environment 8 sessions, that album is due next year. Blue 12" and digital download, pre-order now, released 5th November. https://fsol.bandcamp.com/album/captures-pre8ep-001

new music from memory comp (which have always been great). this one in particular seems like something everyone here would enjoy ? "Music From Memory is delighted to be turning 50 with a special release: MFM050 - V/A - Virtual Dreams: Ambient Explorations In The House & Techno Age, 1993-1997 (3xLP/2xCD). The first in a series of compilations, alongside more in depth artist-focused releases, Virtual Dreams will delve into music produced during the 1990’s that redefined the boundaries of ‘Ambient’. This was music that explored the possibilities of Ambient music within a new setting, created often by House & Techno music producers for a world beyond dance floors…

You're Only Young Once But You Can Be Stupid Forever by Bogdan RaczynskiOut October 18th. Following the release of the well received Rave ‘Till You Cry compilation of unreleased versions from the vaults in 2019, Disciples follow it up (a mere 5 years later!) with a new album from Rephlex alumni Bogdan Raczynski, complete with another manifesto style title: You’re Only Young Once But You Can Be Stupid Forever. A collection of warmly melodic electronic sketches, with tracks alternately drifting beatless on the breeze or underpinned by lo-fi drums, sometimes barely held together with a delicate construction of odd synth patches and ping-pong percussion. Eac…

New Peak Oil, should be good. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various The core duo of Max D and Matt Papich debut on Peak Oil following full-lengths for Future Times and PAN with a fresh suite of tactile, diffuse fusion. Half the collection emerged from a 2021 session at Tempo House rounded out by Dustin Wong, Mezey, and Jeremy Hyman, while the rest took shape in moments both collaborative and isolated, collaged together with CDJs into something more liquid and liminal than the sum of its parts. Across fractured jazz, pitch-shifted downtempo, revelatory guitar, and interstitial interplay, Lifted’s sound is one of flux, fragments, and filigree. Obliq…

new skee mask album incoming. juno: "The next level beat maker and sound designer that is Skee Mask returns to long-time home label Ilian Tape with another bold and brilliant album, Resort. It's an album that expands on the artist's usual sound with fusions of celestial ambient, IDM sound design and lithe, rhythmic techno drums. There are breakbeats on 'Reminiscrmx' backlit by heavenly pads, 'Schneiders Paradox' is marbled with zippy pads and raw drum hits, 'BB Care' glistens with a futuristic glow and 'Holzl Was A Dancer' slips into a shuffling, UKG tinged dub house pumper. It's a wild, wonderful ride that reaches all new levels for this already accomplished pr…

Alan Sparhawk of Low has picked himself up and dusted himself off in the wake of Mimi Parker's passing. His new solo LP 'White Roses, My God' will be out on Sub Pop September 27th. Here's the first single 'Can U Hear': Alan had been posting jam sessions on Instagram these past few Fridays where it's just him with a drum machine, bass synth, and pedals for vocal manipulation, so this aesthetic direction doesn't come as a huge surprise if you'd seen those. I imagine it won't resonate with all the Low fans, but I feel like there's a vital energy here and am definitely interested in what the full album will bring.

Actress - Statik - new album out 7th June (smalltownsupersound.com) new album out June 7th. Actress — the moniker of British electronic producer Darren Cunningham — announces his new album, Statik, out July 7th via Smalltown Supersound, and shares singles “Dolphin Spray” & “Static.” Cunningham’s latest studio album is imbued with a sense of freedom and stillness. From conception through creation and release, Statik has been blessed with an almost unnatural ease. For Actress, who wrote the majority of this record in an extensive flow state, the celestial and expansive project serves as a testament to artistic liberation. “Static,” a shadowy and buzzy ambien…
