Just got a raise again. Totally unexpected. Apparently, I work a lot harder than the others on my team, but I'm stumped as to how I could do any less

ive been cutting down on my booze bigtime. also pills. probably anyone who has been posting on this forum the same decade that i have noticed i went from 5 years of tonnes of weed, to 5 years of tonnes of ecstasy. both were great at the time, but im nearly 30 now, and thoroughly enjoying a low carb diet with plenty of high quality meat and veg, 4 hours of exersize a week, and mostly sober sexy times. my path to adulthood has been almost cliched.

apart from a bout of anxiety for a few months that exercize has gotten under control, i seem to have gotten away with taking about a thousand pills and drinking full bottles of tequila mixed with buckfast at scottish booze opening times for the best part of a decade relatively unscathed.

I just hate alcohol and what it does to certain people :)

If in moderation it's excellent with me, but too much and it makes me negative and moody, the zest of life just sort of..... fades away.

I did actually once go to an AA meeting, which was quite a good thing for me (I couldn't get out of the room fast enough! I actually got up and walked out 10 minutes before clock struck the hour because I knew I would be surrounded by them all, it was a very awkward moment but necessary). I mean these guys have one whiff of wine and the next thing their unconscious in a ditch, after beating the wife and kids up. I realised in that hour I wasn't in their league whatsoever, I was just a bit of a buffoon who needed to grow-up. So I decided to stop drinking 3 days a week (I'm trying for 4!!) which was really great for me, because a) I love the taste of good beer and b) I like to socialise down the pub. Problems arise when I have a week off work and I'm not doing anything in particular. Then my rules go out the window. And hey presto that's when you'll find me (as mentioned above) very negative and very moody. And no doubt letting myself down on watmm  :whistling:

Christ. My boss told me this morning that there was an error and I'm actually getting a bigger raise than I was expecting. I'm falling my way up the chain, folks.

That's great!

I quit my job a couple of months ago and it's the best thing I've ever done. I still do freelance work for my old workplace and last month I invoiced them 125% of what I used to make when I was hired there. And this month I'm already close to what I used to make.

Also I've got other jobs on the side as well so... fuck yeah!

That must be the most liberating fucking thing in the world. Keep it up!

Partially solved my borked usb ports problem by getting a firewire ext hd. So no more panicked deletion when I realise I'm down to 10mb disk space.

Now all I need is a female usb to male firewire/thunderbolt thingy that's under £80(!) so I can change the bloody music on my phone without the blood sweat and tears routine I keep going through.

Managed to install an air-conditioning unit by myself (with youtube video instructions) because couldn't find a professional who could do it within the next month and wasn't responsible enough to get it done before the summer.

A small (internet?)mag did a write up detailing some of my current and past music so that's nice to see. Seems like they're generally interested in the sorts of stuff other WATMMers would be into as well so yeah read about and/or just check them out https://xoidmag.xyz/post/162453239502/sounds-from-the-bedroom-2-tsrono-our-latest

Got a raise yesterday. We now have a keg/mini-lounge at work so we have been heading down for some beers around 3 as "team building" the last couple weeks. Whined to my boss about an internal project I've been meeting some resistance on with my improvement ideas and he's working on getting that shit sorted. The tasks I've been procrastinating on turned out to be things clients decided they don't give a shit about or have changed their mind on (for reasons completely unrelated to my procrastination). Oh and I got free Cheez-Its and ice cream bar today too. And now I'm on vacation :D

Congrats, Squee!

A lazy coworker states that the reason he does little work is because he'll never get a raise, so there is no point in doing more than he needs to (which is jack shit, and everyone hates him for it). Little does he know that, a few feet away, a certain worker gets paid more than he does because he worked hard last year, doing a job that wasn't his. In fact, the lazy coworker even used me as an example (in a conversation with someone else) of someone who is being dumb for working hard (honestly, the job is easy) and earning the same money for working hard.

:duckhunt: = me whenever he rants (again) that everyone gets paid the same

Re: the alcohol -- I had over 4 months without drinking at the beginning of the year and was doing great but went and picked the habit back up. I have a tendency to drink everything in sight and it's best that I abstain completely. Almost a week today and have less anxiety already.

FWP: One of my (less than 2 yr old) JBL LSR305s of the pair won't come on at all. It did this a few months ago but mysteriously started working again so I let it be.

FWS: Manufacturer warranty should cover it as long as I can find receipt or have ebay store send me a digital copy.

I spilled toothpaste on my bathrobe this morning so now every time I move I get a lovely minty scent blown directly up into my nostrils.

Also, I wear a bathrobe while working.
