you can stream it on NPR. It's good and I enjoy it. I also listened to the first album the other day and it holds up. Really fun. 

 

Jlin is alllllll over the place atm. Too much exposure possibly? Not sure - i loved the first album but a loooooot of people on twitter now being like "THIS IS EVERYTHING" and a month ago were retweeting solange's performance at SFMOMA - 100! 100! FIRE FIRE FIRE and talking about how underrated frank ocean is. lol. has a bit of an opportunistic feel to it doesn't it?? 

 

At the same time I do not begrudge Jlin any and all success she deserves. Planet mu neither. And hey maybe those frank ocean fans become jlin fans and more on planet mu - it's just that sometimes it feels like the RT FIRE EMOJI x3 is for reasons different from an honest love and interest in the music. w/e

Not sure she can be lumped with "footwork" tag anymore. These are some ultra-detailed HD bangers. Also actual flow between tracks, rather the compilation style of most footwork releases.

Sounds amazing! Her first album was pretty intense, but this one ups the ante considerably. Sounds more cohesive too: the first sounded like a really good compilation, but this sounds like a crafted album from beginning to end.

Same here. I'll probably come around to it in like 4 or 5 years. Im always a bit behind current music trends. I still don't like Room(s). *Dodges series of thrown objects*

Yeah Jlin is barely footwork, I tried to get into footwork after I got into her and a lot of it was not my speed at all. It's just wacky beats you guys

basically all the footwork released on mu is much more bizarre (and hilarious) than this, which is probably why she's all over the place atm, accessible but still "cool" and  made by a qoc. would not be surprised if this is one of mu's best sellers. theres a damn profile in the damn new yorker this week for crying out loud.

 

I did get to see her live and chat with her after the show. She was having a huge amount of fun playing her beats and was incredibly humble and friendly when we talked. I got DJ Diamond to take our photo lol. He dropped my phone on the ground and said "uh oh.... i got the money to fix this" but it wasn't broken. Cool dude.

 

oh yeah and actress went on after and was soooo bad it was actually sad and not funny. energy in the room immediately dissipated, he tried to appease us by playing washing machine but we were smarter than that.

 

Whatever nerdy watmm issues I have with jlins music aside, it was super amazing to see men and women dancing like freaks to this music - it's about as close to IDM as it will get to fill a large club of people moving. Never would have expected an IDM crossover moment would be lead by someone from my home state.

 

edit: oh yeah and also that show was the first time a complete stranger has come up to me and said "are you dr lopez" lol
