I was surprised to not see a thread for this: perhaps that's why I hadn't heard about the release 'til a few days ago, though it's been out for nearly a month. I'm honestly not sure how many folks on wattumz are into this sort of stuff, but there's a few at least so yeah. https://paydromartinez.bandcamp.com/album/zuu This one seems slightly less chop/cut than the last, but is equally off-center and sample heavy. Only listened through once, but it's solid.

"2011's fractured and tripped out full length GLAQJO XACCSSO was highly praised across experimental avant circles from The Wire to DAZED, identifying patten as a unique voice emanating from an intersection between a number of London's underground scenes." "Since then, converse to expectation, no further recorded work has been heard from patten, concentrating instead on playing live and producing a handful of highly distinctive, idiosyncratic remixes. Known for developing new trajectories for recordings in the live environment, it seems that the past two years have been fruitful, seeing his ever-complex sound morph and splinter further with every performance." "pa…

Ian Cooper and Paul Hammond released five albums between 1990 and 1998, including the acclaimed 1992 LP Every Man And Woman Is A Star, which was co-released through Rough Trade. The last of those five records, 1998's A User's Guide, marked the beginning of a hiatus that lasted some 13 years. The duo returned in 2011 with two comeback EPs—Acid / Butch for WNCL and Find A Way for Real Soon. This Time Last Year was recorded at the duo's studio near the Essex marshes, and according to a press release it draws on a mixture of "vintage drum machines, analogue synths, textural samples, acoustic recordings, electric bass and heavily treated guitar." Real Soon will release…

"Badge of Honor pushing the envelope of techno with quirky, Detroit-infused abstractions that only the masterful Dixon (once dubbed the Aphex Twin of Detroit techno) could conjure up. Far removed from his Population One moniker, this is Terrence Dixon's fourth LP in an illustrious 20-year career. The album hits us with raw, all-encompassing techno cuts alongside some choice left-field experiments (View From A Lighthouse, Radio Room and Light Years), cementing Terrence's reputation as the free-form producer of choice, not unlike a modern day Sun Ra. From the P-Funk basslines and melodies of Operation Acoustic and Incoming, to the dark, undulating Mills-esque sound of The A…

It wasn't a word. Sound created atoms; sound and light are the original manifesting principles for worlds... Jessy Lanza - Pull My Hair Back
by Guest murphythecat8- 3 replies

Arriving with respectfully minimal hype, Jessy Lanza's supple, subtle debut album 'Pull My Hair Back' might well be one of Hyperdub's finest releases in 2013. Galvanised by sublime production from her fellow Hamilton, Ontario native, Junior Boys' Jeremy Greenspan, it's just so dreamy I can barely write this without shutting my eyes and and doing the smuggest soul gurn. It seems they've each found their perfect muse - Jessy with her classical vocal training and Greenspan with one of the sweetest, most aware pop touches in the game - amounting to a chronically lush and eloquent cybeR&B love-in which, as the label puts it, is "graceful and erotic without the gratuitous c…

Released just 2 days ago but was surprised not to find any threads on this producer at all here. Would have thought the 90s inspired Techno/IDM/Ambient sound had sparked an interest. Anyway, I have enjoyed his recent run of EP's and listened through his album just now. I really like his obvious love for analogue hardware. It sounds at times almost a little too true to it's inspirations, but it's still really good! I suggest you give it a spin! http://www.residentadvisor.net/news.aspx?id=21144 http://boomkat.com/vinyl/831425-a-sagittariun-dream-ritual Soundbites:

a decent new album of funk, but doesn't really capture their sound from the Grand Royal days.
