Mika Vainio

Just wondering about Mika Vainio after listening to his collaboration with Sean Booth, and having Kesto by Pan Sonic. I've looked him up but I'm not sure what to listen to. Not too into Kesto, but something about this guy interests me. How do you rate him, n what's best?

The Electro Wars 1 2

Is this what America is like? This isn't a "how shit is music i don't like?" thread, because I like a couple of the artists alot, but its painful to see them compared side-by-side with the intellectual commentry LMFAO (who look like white kids who can't decide if they want to dress like black guys or clowns) or an educational voice over telling me "blog house" is a genre whilst showing a genre tree that includes "electro banger".

Autechre Howard Shore ~ Videodrome
by Guest Apeofnaples- 7 replies

This is out of left field but I always thought Howard Shore's score for Videodrome was wayyyyy ahead of it's time. Recorded in 1983, it's not a million miles away from what folks like Autechre got up to many years later. Okay, the voice is kinda hokey but everything that follows is bananas! And I like the voice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diHm3dK_5eg&feature=related

I thought that some of you chaps might like this. It's the band I was in around '98 at college. We made this in 2000, I think. The production isn't amazing, but there are some really good tracks in here. I still listen to them quite a bit. Some of the tracks are quite experimental, like 'Didge Synth', which was the bass player Jay playing his Didgeridoo through some weird effects unit while everyone twiddled some knobs. And then some tracks are kinda Mogwai sounding like 'Nutfucker', which is my favourite track. I was the drummer by the way. I thought rather than them just stay on my hard drive, I should share them with everyone. Download it Here You can downl…

The place I teach taekwondo at likes to listen to trashy techno songs and since they only have a few CDs and it's been running for over six years, the teachers are getting tired of hearing the same repetitive bass lines over and over. I tried introducing them to AFX and Squarepusher but they hated it. Couldn't handle even the light stuff. XTal was too slow and Squarepusher's stuff didn't sound like music to them. Basically what I'm looking for is stuff like this. These are some of the songs they listen to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEiC7J_aj8A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8H1p13GjKOs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjBm-CzwVXg And some other …

by Guest Electronic Sleep- 1 reply

Hello All! I am planning my first trip to UK and France (and New York) and need suggestions on must sees over there and things I have to see as an experimental electronic music fan. I would like to try to get shows (far fetched?) but just seeing a good show would be awesome. I am planning on going in July for a week or two and any resources would super awesome. I decided to start this topic because I put on Drukqs for a friend, and asked if she had liked it. She said she did but, said it would be so much cooler if it had lyrics. She asked if I agreed, I didn't obviously. Amongst my friends and family they hate the fact that I mostly listen to instrumental music; electronic, classical, whatever. Do people just like to dance in a club, to a hot beat with some guy/girl rapping or singing about dancing in a club? Do others just like being able to sing to something catchy in their car on their way home from work? Do they like love songs and break up songs that much? I most often hear that they want to listen to something that ma…

Hey guys, I have a little problem. I can't fucking stop listening to Aphex Twin. I know there is a lot of other talent in IDM, but I never know where to start. This just results in me listening to MORE Aphex Twin. I love his music, so thats not necessarily a bad thing, but I'd like to hear the rest of the talent out there. Can you guys please help recommend me some great Albums by other artists? Thanks, Calum
