Far superior to Parliament in my opinion, although by the end of their career (I'm thinking late 70's onward) they sounded pretty similar. They just had such ferocious playing... the humour, the commentary... brilliant stuff For starters, I'd check out Maggot Brain, the title track opener has one of the most scorching extended guitar solos I've ever heard (George Clinton instructed Eddie Hazel to "play like yo mamma died") ...not to mention the opening monologue is classic: "Mother Earth is pregnant for the 3rd time, for y'all have knocked her up. I have taasted the maggots in the mind of the universe... I was not offended, for I knew I had to rise above …

Looking for artists

In "hit or miss" terms, this has a near 100% chance of being a miss; but, given that I intend to exhaust all options: I'm looking for any stray music by any of three artists who were signed up to the old mp3.com (as in, pre-2001) and whose music I've not been able to find since: Jungle Logic Lag Simple Mean Frequencies Lag was the project of some University of Maryland student (I think.) I'm not entirely sure whether Simple Mean Frequencies is an artist or album name. So if by miracle someone here happens to have anything by the above mentioned artists, PLEASE.

Since the band's inception, the two musicians have lived in different parts of Europe, working separately and collaborating using the internet I have so much love for Isan... Some of you hopefully share the same feeling.... if you didn't know about them be…

http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:dzfuxz9kldhe just wondering what folks think of this album? it's a little too white washed pop for me...but the production is pretty interesting and the guy's voice is like a blunted out Jay Z. it's not a great album, but it's occasionally interesting.

This guys has been releasing records since 1982, Was a huge front in the Electro-hop movement in the 1980's & pretty much invented gangster rap, way before Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog or Tupac. I've only heard stuff from Martin Denny, Esquivel and Les Baxter but I'd consider it some of my favorite music outside of my typical Electronic Music listening habits. The stuff Esquivel was doing with stereo is/was amazing, when you are listening to it loud as fuck on a good system or on some nice headphones it just has an amazing punch to it. Martin Dennys stuff is more relaxed and whenever I hear his stuff I always think of the opening music to Pee Wee's playhouse (Not the Cyndi Lauper theme, the music that plays before that). Anyone have more recommendations? If I wasn't so lazy and tired right now I'd post some youtubes of some good tunes.

The example I'm thinking of is Massive Attack, especially Mezzanine. It seems like I've heard so many songs from this album in films, or if not, the songs are very evocative. Any others you guys can think of?

There's this 'remix' of that beatles song somewhere out there and I heard it a while back. I forgot who it was by, but it had the words from the original Beatles version and then this background which was really mellow and somewhat glitchy, I think. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
