'Power', now readily gettable on blogs, p2ps and torrent sites everywhere. Typically massive production, King Crimson samples, walls of backing vocals, classical piano flourishes.... Another win. haha and plenty of lyrics to further irritate the haters

Boards of Canada Various Artists - New Technology Vol. 1 & 2 (Parry Music, Canada 1981)

I just ran across this vinyl find at a blog called Lunar Atrium. Thought you guys might like it. Early '80s synth instrumental stuff, reminiscent of Boards of Canada (obv.), Ralf & Florian, etc. Some of it is quite beautiful. Both volumes are included in the zip provided at the blog: New Technology 1 & 2 Great site with vinyl rips from his personal collection. Many gems to be found.

He has so many good compositions its a bit overwhelming. my favourite has to be Summertime though. Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald have great versions but Im a sucker for a good Soprano! Something about the high voice combined with the tension in the strings is a killer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYYhkiWVp6Q Discuss Gershwin....... EDIT: Peter Gabriel does a good one too.

anyone know any? Maybe like house / electro stuff, with a gameboy / lo-fi digital feel to it like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYa4fr2nrps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbLo32rP0IU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xr74SugU5cM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWh7m1bA1p0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxhcWYRtIfY

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=670dLYfr1wk doesn't quite have the same amount of grit that the Quake era noise stuff did, but it's a step in the right direction.

Does any of you WATMM members own the 1993 Trance Europe Express compilation (Discogs) and the respective 192 page book included with the release? Because i guess there is a photo of the original Black Dog Productions trio (ken, andy and ed) inside and i would like to see it. So if any of you has it and is able to scan the picture, i would be very glad. Thanks in advance

i'm not the world's biggest rap fan. I don't listen to most of the rap that's coming out these days. but i've got a few that i love. q-tip, mos def, and snood dog - with each of them, it's the flow that gets me. but the best rap album ever has got to be Mos Def's Black On Both Sides...it's funky and smart...jesus proclaim it a masterpiece.

it's so amazing to me the similarities between some of the calls of creatures in the sea and sounds found in electronic music's. someone really should make a decent concept album based completely on samples taken from nature (or just the sea). sea creatures have particularly lovely tones they emit. now i know that many artists have used various sounds from the sea as aspects of their music's-but what i would like to suggest is that the whole structure of an album (whether it be ambient or more beat oriented) be constructed using these sounds as source material. a concept album-not unlike the work matmos did using sounds from surgery on their album 'a chance t…

I would love to see some of today's most exciting acts from the electronic and indie worlds start becoming multimedia artists rather than music artists, releasing only videos and songs together indivisibly from one another as whole individual releases.

has no one come across this guy before (i'm sure someone has)? the "soundtrack (313)" album from '96... this guy can sure craft a tune. i don't even really know who to compare his work to; it sounds like some of plaid and the black dogs work but with more live percussion (percussion sounds sampled and sequenced though). just the first track alone, gratiot... wow!
