I'm traveling to Germany this Friday; this is my first time in Europe, so I would love to have the opportunity to listen some great artists that never come to South America, like afx/ae/boc(lol)/squarepusher/clark/funkstorung/kettel/etc., but I didn't see anything until now :s I'll stay in Frankfurt and then Berlin until January 10. If somebody knows some good stuff to do there please tell me :) cheers

Do you ever meet strangers on the street who like IDM Today after school I saw a guy with an Aphex symbol shirt and before I could say "Hey, nice shirt," he said "Dude I like the shirt" to my BoC shirt. This has only happened about two other times I find it unlikely that even 1% of the population is exposed to IDM

http://extras.denverpost.com/archive/captured.asp Some amazing images... I love looking at the world gone by where previously all we knew was black and white imagery.

Jingles are amazing. You only have to hear them, like, twice, and twenty years later you find yourself singing them whilst wiping your ass. Has anyone written a jingle? Do you have a most loved or most hated little song that won't shut up? Here's one I remembered today: It's a little bit of country Glade Potpourri in a spray Country wild flowers And a little bit of sugar and spice

I believe he was... Russian? I can't for the life of me remember his name nor the name of thread, but I believe it was just his name, and someone called it IDM art. Giggle. It was very abstract structures, usually resembling urban areas. I forgot to bookmark it and now I can't find that thread - can someone help?

so I am in Chicagoland for 2 weeks visiting friends...im new to the area...what should I do? PS Im not going to the Sears Tower as I heard its ridiculously expensive. Any good places to eat? I saw an ad for a traditional Dim Sum restaurant...would love to have dim sum for breakfast. Any good parks? Apparently I am near Bucktown and there is a bohemian/hipster/artsy fartsy area in Damen? Any cool places there? I know there are people here from Chicago or have traveled here quite a bit. Lend me your thoughts on any and everything Chicago.

Sending emails to companies - a fun pastime 1 2 3
by Guest Rambo- 50 replies

I saw a thread today on the something awful forums and it reminded me of an email i sent last year. Basically the idea is to send emails to a company of your choosing just to see if you can get a reply. Basically like a crank call but in email form. You may like to complain about a product or enquire about a beautiful old lady you saw working in a store. Anyway, i saw this somethingawful thread and it reminded me of an email i sent last year where i pitched a tv show idea to the RSPCA (the UK equivalent of PETA). Yeah so kind of a double rofl on my part by not sending to the right place. The aim is to get replies so let's give it a go, i believe in us. Here's the orig…

good films involving pest / infection / virii 1 2 3

been a while since i've last watched Carpenter's The Thing, so i did last night, what a fun film! The greatest creature effects. Now i want to see some more sic-fi films surrounding that infection theme (molecular, insects...), kind of along the lines of Phase IV, the Andromeda Strain.. ProTip: do no google image search for "infection" :(

this is more of a statement than question, but here goes: when i see your avatar, i see what looks like a retarded dog that just heard someone fart. it catches me off guard every time. not saying you should change it, but maybe you should consider changing it. that being said, if anyone needs me to change mine, i'd be happy to do so in kind.

thought you guys would find this interesting PERCEPTION . . . Something To Think About . . . THE SITUATION In Washington , DC , at a Metro Station, on a cold January morning in 2007, this man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, approximately 2,000 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After about 3 minutes, a middle-aged man noticed that there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds, and then he hurried on to meet his schedule. About 4 minutes later: The violinist received his first dollar. A woman threw money in the hat and, with…

The Designers Republic - "WE ARE HERE."
by Guest ansgaria- 15 replies

According to a recent Facebook update by TDR, they are now... here. "WE ARE HERE." All it says. What does it mean? I don't know. They've always still sort of been there with Artwork and graphical design for selected artist, but perhaps this means that they're back in style/business. Whatever it means, I'm psyched. http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Designers-Republic/40856697213

I found this really unique bedding by diesel but its totally sold out. Now I want to have it printed myself but I have no idea where to find images like this. Where can I download large images of vintage turntables, mixer etc. that look pretty close like the ones on the bedding?

Has anyone here done any long cycling trips through Europe? I'm planning on going there next summer and I think I would like to bike my way around instead of taking the train. I did some poking around on Google, but didn't find any trails or routes. Just a bunch of general tips. Ideally, my trip would be about two months, and I would like to see London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin. I would bike from Paris to Amsterdam, then to Berlin. Has anyone done a similar route? I would appreciate your tales or tips, if you have any. I was also thinking of starting a Kickstarter account to help fund some of it, and then make a short film of an American biker's travels.

there is a long list at the watmm who post lashings at troon and then cry that they hate the troon account because it spreads awful things. i would like to be shown one instance of this account's malice when unprovoked. most times we are sweet as pie. sure troon is peculiar and unpredictable, but do these traits deserve this type of unending, scathing ridicule? i think not. it is no wonder that this account has been showing symptoms of possible closure. i believe the way the troon account is treated here on the watmm is unjust and we would like to appeal to this forum, troon would like the abuse to come to an end. can we reconcile differences watmm? what say ye?

WATMM Programmers corner

I remember we had a thread about Computer Science, but I thought i'd be better to create a new thread since programming != computer science. So post your cool programs in here etc Personally, I'm currently developing a framework to enable rule-based programming in objective-c in the hope to implement aspect/role/subject oriented design patterns. So far I focused on aspect-oriented programming and I must confess that, although still being experimental, i'm getting good results. I compared my shit with apple's notification-based observing pattern and mine is around 20% faster. How does it work ? Rules are objects that have three main properties:…
