I had heard Milk DX and Inhake 2 already, years ago. Of course I love Inhake 2, always have, still do. But I hadn't heard Drane. And I'm glad I hadn't, it was a very, very pleasant surprise. The bit... near the end... I'm not sure where, there's a little added bassline, like the deep strings at the end of Draun Quarter... when that kicked in... I felt something in my heart that I had not felt since I started listening to Autechre (like... 9 years ago I guess?). It was like a really special moment, the best way I can describe it is that I felt like I remembered why I listen to music at all. No one makes music like this any more. Not even Autechre th…

There is artwork printed on the inside of the record sleeve, but I can't seem to find images of it anywhere (and I don't want to rip apart my copy). Does anybody have a picture of this?

Quaristice 2 disc custom playlist

I came back to this album and the related versions after not listening to it for a while. When I was listening to it a lot, I found myself on my ipod or in itunes sifting through this massive body of work just playing tracks I liked here or there. The album itself is somewhat hit or miss, with shorter, sketchy versions of tracks and the Version SE & EP have some longer deeper cuts but then there is still some filler there as well. Frustrating to not be able to really sit with it as an album like Confield, LP5. Tri-Rep and just take it in. So I went through all of it and tried to pick out what I thought were the best tracks, and made 2 playlists. Just having t…

Hey, so I've noticed that one interesting thing about AE's music is not only do all of the AE nerds tend to have vastly differing track preferences, but that often times a song that originally seemed boring or difficult can have a complete turnaround. What AE tracks have undergone complete turnovers for you? Incunabula: I hated bike at first, actually I pretty much hated the entire album at first because I heard tri repetae and then amber before Incunabula. Now I love most of the tracks. Amber: Piezo has recently become one of my favs. Also for the first little while i absolutely hated Nil. Recently fell in love with Nine. Tri repetae: Rsdio has underg…

Perlence Suns

Really love this track. Showcases a different type of ae darkness that we rarely see, almost film scorey. I wish they had done a whole of bunch more of the "Suns" tracks, as opposed to a fuck load of perlences. They just have this awesome sense of space, really feels like you are in a yawning chasm.......brilliant stuff.

Hey everyone, the past couple of times that I've been listening to AE in altered states, I always come to the conclusion that one of my life goals is to let autechre know how much I appreceate their work. I know this sounds like a rediculous brown nose attempt, and be that as it may I still think it is important to me to convey to them how much their music moves me and has affected my life. What I want to know is is there any way besides showing up at a show to talk to AE in some way and let them know? I know musicians probably absolutely hate people like me bothering them all the time but maybe with electronic music being the underdog that it is, they would be more …

So...I listened to Untitled for the first time last night. I took some rather potent LSD, found myself a quiet dark room, got some good earbuds, and then shut my eyes and let my brain do the work. Oh...my...God. Pro Radii became an epic battle against a giant robot spider. Iera was a bunch of alien worms crawling in my head through my ears and eating my brain. The end of Fermium put me in a total trance state, which I was shot back out abruptly by the begininng of The Trees. Overall, it was an incredible intense experience. I love to listen to Autechre during a trip. I find it's some of the most "visual" music out there. Anyone else have any other hallucinogenic…

I was listening to Quarstice, Versions, and Quadrange tonight, determined to find something I liked in them. After wasting about 45 minutes doing that, I swiched to my Ontario Canada bootleg and had a deep thought. Why do electronic musicians not release their best music? I realize that it is their music, not mine. But the fans expect and DESERVE the best. We HELPED them get to where they are now. Why would they keep their best from us? I have seen AE live 3 times...every chance I could get. Their live music is amazing. Mind-blowing. It upsets me that I have to suffer through a crappy bootleg just to hear what I think is the best music being made right now. One of…

I thought these two anagrams for "Ipacial Section" were worth sharing with all of you. Antisocial Epic, Socialite Panic I think they both describe the song pretty well. Do you think they did it knowingly or its just a coincidence?

Dear Autechre, It seems I am starting to experience something I have never experienced before... All the things that I'm constantly bombarded with by your music seem to be opening my mind to the beauty of sound, all sounds! I find myself marveling at the unique beauty of like...say...tapping a pane of glass...or swishing around water...or scratching with my fingernails on a smooth surface. Its like banging something is no longer just banging something...its a strange and interesting waveform, just waiting for me to aurally dissect it. Or like just a second ago, I went up to this aluminum lamp bell thingy, and I just tapped it. The sound produced was so…

Quaristice + Quadrange + Live tour = Ae really is just getting better and better. They aren't just getting better technically either. It's not that they are just learning to program things more explicitly or that they have a broader knowledge of programing (I'm sure thy do though), it's that they continue to make innovative songs. Whether they are complex masterpieces or brief whims, B and B are making the most original music I have ever heard. I can't wait for the next release so I can question their progression then be totally blown away several months afterwards when i'm more familiar with the songs. As always, there are some tracks I'm not jizzing all over…
