got properly into dead space these last few days. good fun, and scary but more BOO! scary than the creeping fucking dread that amnesia has.

 

Ye, I loved it. Just going around with those saw blades choppin shit up.

 

Someone recommend me a creepy scary game. Like silent hill or something.

I think I'm going to have to get an XBOX 360 for Portal 2. My GF wants to get into it, but she can't PC game, needs controllers innit, and only my computer has a halfway decent graphics card and I don't want her finding my tranny porn stash folder containing receipts of her birthday gifts.

 

I know you will actually get Steam on the PS3 and you get a free copy of Portal 2 for PC Steam if you buy PS3 P2, but... do not want to give Sorny money. And also would just get a cheapo used copy of the Orange Box for her to play first, and I am informed and believe, and thereupon allege, that the Orange Box is shitty on PS3.

 

Edit: bought Amnesia for myself, now just need a free/alone night to play

The 360 and Vista prove that MS is willing to put out an incomplete, crappy product, as long as they make money. At least Sony is trying to make a great game system. I'm not saying Sony isn't in it for the money. But they are much less so than MS. Sony has a much better quality standard. This is coming from someone who has had both gaming systems.

I'm still butthurt about the Sony BMG rootkit thing; it's a corporate parentage issue.

It's not like there's a comparable FOSS console option, I have to pick what I perceive to be the lesser of two evils, right? That calculation is going to be subjective.

Would be nice if Nintendo catered to something other than casual/party gamers now... and if Sega hadn't screwed the pooch two times too many.

 

Part of the reason I was putting the xbox over the PS3 is because she wants to play through the Orange Box and I hear it's really bad on the PS3. If anyone can state otherwise, I'd welcome that info.

Well, she's always watching over my shoulder when I play HL2 and keeps telling me we should get a console so she can play (I offer my computer but she doesn't want to use it), so it's more than just Portal. She's just sensing the hype on that one.

 

I've heard that the framerate on the PS3 version drops significantly in HL2/episodes during crucial moments and that the load times are terrible, and that it just plain doesn't look good.

 

edit: in any case I'm waiting for reviews on Portal 2 on various systems before I decide anything. Since the GF makes 50 grand more than me she could always go out and decide the issue on her own with all that cashola... but I was thinking xmas gift if I beat her to it.

 

Wish I could buy the OSX steam version and get a partial voucher of some sort for whatever other version. Portal the First is a bit of a struggle on my current computer with a 8600M GT, and a console is a lot cheaper than a new Macbook Pro, so I have to do something.

I have the Orange Box for PC, so I never got it for the PS3. So I can't really help you there. I doubt you'll be getting a console for the sole purpose of your woman being able to play The Orange Box. If you are, then never mind. If you want a full packaged deal with a HD Blu-Ray experience (again, if you don't have an HDTV then never mind), with free internet access. I would definitely go with a PS3. But if you're budget wise, you can get a new Xbox 360 for $200 (4Gb model), whereas a new PS3 will cost you $300 (160Gb model). So a 360 could possibly be the right choice for you. But as for myself? Personally, going through 3 Xbox 360s in one year made me give up with the damned thing and stick with my PS3.

Well, the Orange Box + Portal 2 would just be starting points. I guess if I got a PS3 I could even add the PS2 Half-Life (original)? Haven't played that in years. I'm just really picky with games, and get bored quickly if they're not at least sorta close to Valve's quality level here. But yeah, it wouldn't just be Orange Box.

 

She's sort of interested in the xbox kinect thing, which I understand has potential but doesn't have the games to back it up.

 

Already have an 1080P HD TV with a nice samsung blu-ray player, so the value added aspect of the PS3 doesn't really factor in.

 

I'm concerned about reliability/quality, but I've heard horror stories from both camps, and I hear the failure rates are roughly similar.

 

Fuck, I dunno.

Same thing happened to me but in a month. Pretty flimsy consoles but they are the only way to play limbo.....

im rusiming my fiffa11 campain. 17th in the championship.. had to loan loads of players coz my funs ran out. but its doing well.

 

I hope you play on the world class difficulty then. Or else a 17th place in any liga is not that impressive to be honest :emotawesomepm9:

i staretd with afc bournemouth and got promoted from L1 to Chmpshp on worldclass. now ave player is 62 overall apart from my player is who 77 in midfield
