We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various Drifting, hanging, holding. Hoping, seeking, searching. And then finding. Mark Van Hoen's ninth album as Locust is a cosmic whisper, a tender touch, where candid songwriting commingles with the afterimage of trip-hop and jungle. Across eight tracks, spectral melodies dance between languid breakbeats, and a formless murmur drifts through the ether, seeking a common thread. Layered in strata, "The First Cause" reveals itself anew with each listen. Delicate tones share space with bass weight. Drums crunch, and rhythms cascade. Voices loop and intone, bodiless. What at first seems melancholy, you may later find re…

https://boomkat.com/products/cold-reading New album out now. Her first album on Modern Love out 3 years ago was an extremely slow grower for me. I listened to it, didn't really understand it or find much that memorable about it but I had the distinct impression I was missing out on something - there was something about it which kept me coming back to try and unravel its mysteries. By the time it was reissued last year I was a full on fan, and on first listen this 2nd album is even better. Her music is fairly difficult to describe - it feels ephemeral and inscrutable - emotionally neutral. There is nothing flashy that catches your attention and on the…

Super interesting record. i saw this singer live last year, where she opened with a cover of the Ghost in The Shell theme. You can tell there is a high level of musicianship, yet it feels guided by intuition and not technical acrobatics or whatever. The bass sounds super nice on headphones for some reason. https://marinaherlop.bandcamp.com/album/nekkuja

The Mystic 1925 A fantastically atmospheric but rarely seen missing link in the development of Tod Browning’s artistry, set amid his favored milieu of shadowy sideshows and clever criminals, The Mystic provides a striking showcase for silent-era diva Aileen Pringle, who sports a series of memorably outré looks (courtesy of art deco designer Erté) as Zara, a phony psychic in a Hungarian carnival who, under the guidance of a Svengali-like con man (Conway Tearle), crashes—and proceeds to swindle—American high society. Browning’s fascination with the weird is on full display in the eerie séance sequences, while his subversive moral ambiguity extends surprising sympathy t…

"Monochrome" is an album where synthesizers aid in weaving a narrative. The journey of its creation begins with a single sonic byte, whether it's a distorted pad or an algorithmic loop, akin to a rogue line of code. From this point, an iterative process unfolds, gradually nurturing the byte until it matures into a full-fledged track. The album will be released on November 10th on Bandcamp. Pre-orders are available here: https://theatreofdelays.bandcamp.com/album/monochrome. You can also listen to the first track on Spotify here: https://open.spotify.com/album/3zMgHvY8uNkn4thpEi3DzJ. Preeminent avant-R&B mutator Klein spirals into free jazz gospel synth mode on a 93 minute magnum opus - proper AOTY level material - gelling tripped out synths and a haul of personal recordings in a breathtaking elevation of an already unique sound - masterful work for fans of Actress, Laurel Halo, Elysia Crampton/E+E, Mica Levi, Leyland Kirby, Dubplate Drama and the early era of Pixar x disney collabs. Really stoked for this. The previews sound awesome. You can find it on Boomkat (where it's £3 cheaper) than Bandcamp Songtradr
