220px-Blood-for-dracula-german-movie-pos

this film is like the 2nd part of this; basically recycling the same sets and (most) of the same actors. a very tawdry take on the dracula story with lots of low brow horrorerotica liberties taken.

lol yeah, I've forced myself to watch both of those. Intolerable z-grade softporn "horror" that only functions as mind numbing sleep medicine imo. Baby Jess wept.

Oh wow, I see these are held in high regard by critics. Must be something wrong with me.

Innerspace
bit of gem! it doesn't quite know what film it wants to be - sci-fi/action adventure/comedy/family/romance - but it doesn't really matter as it all seemlessly blends into non stop fun. Think I saw this when i was a child and it scared the hell out of me, can see why now - some scary body horror ideas here.

Ponyo
Great stuff - hadn't seen before, nice and trippy animation

Beyond the Mat
Think i may have seen this when it first came out back in the day, was a great watch then but in heinsight probably even more powerful today. It couldn't of been more in the right place at the right time in being allowed so much backstage access. Probaby the best wrestling documentary ever and I couldn't recommed it more to anyone who may not be a fan, such a facinating world filled with so many crazy characters and a true slice of late 90's life which we'll never see the likes of again

Frozen
Also a bit of a fun gem, very simple but effective and escolates nicely. 3 people stuck on a chairlift up a mountain.

The "Something to Wrestle" podcast has a great episode about this documentary with some funny background.

Also, I recommend "Wrestling With Shadows". That's another great documentary (and it's got classic Stu Hart footage, what's not to love?).

correct. personally i think they have an artsy appeal both in terms of script and visuals- certainly elevating them somewhere in the joe sarno pantheon of erotic goodness

Spoiler

eg. the fact that all 3 sisters in blood for dracula have a different european accent

dallesandro's character's indifference to both situations (in frankeinstein he's an unmoved automaton, in dracula, he's a seducing, though uncaring lothario)

udo kier's maniacal stubbornness and ribald sensibilities

the simplistic sets also highlight the great economy in narrative i.e. they got 2 films out of the same location set almost entirely indoors with the same crew

Beautiful to look at, haunting atmosphere but not much going on... Maybe there is but I'm not good at deciphering allegories... Anyway I think it's good enough to enjoy the visuals and soundtrack as you sink into the sofa... The right companion to watch back to back with Gretel and Hansel...

obscure 80s horrorotica; starts off as a parody of michael jackson's thriller, then goes into x-rated rocky horror territory but with a storyline more inline with the hammer horror films.

surprisingly good

i enjoyed this- even though i thought it was a little on the longer side and a little too on the nose at times

Spoiler

the most surprising thing for me was the daughter. i thought she'd only last a little while but she's takes center stage (especially the dance sequence in macon. wow)

The two QAnons had to be actors.

"Sacha Baron Cohen spent five whole days with pro-conservatives Jerry Holleman and Jim Russell without breaking character as Borat."

I was actually really surprised by this movie. It was a whole lot better than the tralier had let me to believe

I dunno, I felt pretty let down by this. The Tutar scenes didn't do anything for me. I'd hoped for more WTF conversations with alt-right people, conspiracy theorists and religious nutjobs, but I guess it's getting harder for him not to be recognized.

Edit: lol, my best friend texted me as I wrote this, saying, "I'm 30 min in, quite a few laughs, but the problem are the blatantly scripted gags with the daughter" ...

please don't watch the trailer or read anything about it or else it will spoil most of the fun...

watched this last night. as you suggested, i decided not to read anything about it or watch any trailers beforehand (or after).

Spoiler

thought overall it looked great but lacked anything to warrant the visuals. basically, it looked better than what i felt i got. i also don't think the film "worked" by having all the boys be played by girls. it was a little distracting. immediately the film began my wife and i were like "why is that girl hitting her head on the rock?"

as for borat:

Spoiler

thought some of the gags worked and others didn't, but tutar was my favorite part.
