I respect and hold fast to some aspects of your position Oscillik (not listening to anything until the album is released officially for one) but you're coming across as an embittered, cynicism-addled killjoy.

because I'm seeing sense, instead of being all "OMG BOC UNNNNGGGGH THEY MADE THE WHOLE THING, THEY EMPLOYED ALL THE PEEPULS AND TOLD THEM TO GO PUT THE REKKIDS IN THE STORE AND PLAY THE VIDYA ON THE JAPAN TV, AND THEY WENT TO ADULT SWIMS AND SAID PLAY MY VIDEO"

I'd rather be a cynic than a blind fanboy.

Can't you just the children (myself included) indulge in their BoC dreams made manifest? Even if it is concocted, promotional hype, it is still harmless, escapist entertainment: we can't all be as enlightened and pragmatic as you.

I understand why someone would wanna abstain and wait and listen to the the physical CD/Vinyl instead of listening all this low quality internet stuff that going on, i would do the same if i had the willpower to ignore all the hype and listening parties, etc. but trying to do that ...and browse this forum and seeing all the updates etc. is kinda impossible (certainly for me). I liken the temptation to that of a castrated midget flicking through the first porno mag in 8 years and trying not to cum hard.

Its been hard to hold back! I listened to Reach for the Dead once, which I only did because I wanted to watch the video. Other than that I haven't heard anything else off the album (besides the cosecha transmission). It's not that I care about the sound quality that much (though I do), I'd just rather wait until I can hear all the tracks straight through from begininng to end. It would kind of mess up the flow for me if I finally got the album and was completely familiar with a good chunk of the material.

Your analogy is flawed: if the midget is castrated, restraining from masturbation should be extremely easy.

I am really enjoying this manic pr campaign; very gratifying after so much dimissive silence.

but Warp haven't been silent at all over the years...they're the ones doing the PR campaign, until otherwise proven wrong.

I really want an interview were they clear that up, BoC must have had a part on it, the question is how much.

of course they will have had a part in. but I don't believe for one second that they're doing this solely themselves.

This is a Warp PR campaign.

you are a miserable fun-hater. jesus christ you seem to take this more seriously than anyone, whilst simultaneously managing to moan about it. you are IDM personified. you don't care... sweet! then prove it!

i couldn't give a flaming hexagon about marketing. but is this whole thing a fun journey? YUP. does it matter a shit? NO. will we get the album at the end? YUP. if you don't care, fuck off.

I don't really understand why you are getting annoyed by this hype Osc? If you don't care about it, just ignore it, it's really easy and in a couple of weeks the mailman delivers the new album, no frills attached. I don't get what you are trying to achieve by moaning and whining about it constantly in these threads for people who happen to enjoy all this hoopla. No one is forcing you to read the threads or even acknowledge the PR. Is it because you don't know how to be anything else than a miserable cynical cunt?

of course, a dissenting opinion from the others...

it's cool, enjoy the circlejerk kaini, azatoth, and anyone else who doesn't see this for what it is.

I don't understand how anyone could get annoyed by the actual marketing strategy. It was the bum schmums who got too caught up in the moment who were quite annoying. But they were a variable...yet a vital part of the strategy.

And then Tonx came along with his ustream feed..... ahhh

when you scrape away all the sentimental precum what you have is mainstream marketing tactics which will forever be a shit stain on the albums experience, at least for people who have trouble disassociating or mentally untangling products with their hype and viral history.

WARP marketing doesn't seem evil or anything but you should respect that it may seem to be totally incongruent with the nature of the music to some, and that it irritates people because they have invested so much energy into the music in the past and they got to see a record label canibalize the integrity of a band they know and love

do you actually get paid in your non-IDM capacity for being patronizing? and if so, in what? cynic-bucks?

if this was 1967, when people were blasting their pre-release copies of sgt. peppers from the rooftops, you'd be listening to their satanic majesties request, muttering that it had better textures or some shit. there is fun happening, join in! OR don't, but if you don't then fuck off. you don't have to buy in to the marketing to engage in the journey. i certainly don't, i just think it's a very cool way to spin a new record. nobody ever died of excitement or cynicism.

Well too bad for being such sperglords. Deal with it. Band comes out with long awaited album, of course the label is going to promote the shit out of it. Getting all in a huff about it just seems pointless.

Does any of this peripheral stuff affect your appreciation of the music? Get some therapy/post in first world problems thread

if you can't accept that marketing colors the experience of the product for some people then you need therapy too

we should all just think of oscillik as providing some psychic ballast for the BOC fan community. It's dirty work, but as anyone who's lurked Twoism recently will realise - someone's got to do it.
