Spectre - New Radiohead track

Last year we were asked to write a theme tune for the Bond movie Spectre.

Yes we were. It didn’t work out, but became something of our own, which we love very much.

As the year closes we thought you might like to hear it.

Merry Christmas. May the force be with you.

It's pretty good.

So much better than the actual Spectre song... I guess it was rejected for having a weird time signature, which I can understand but that's too bad.

it's 4/4 just heavily syncopated. same as pyramid song.

I was hearing 4/4, 3/4, and I think 15/16 at one point. Utterly confusing and mesmerising at the same time.

pyramid was the same, it's a lot of is it 5/8? 7/16? nah just 4/4 with the accents on non-obvious places.

yeah im not super convinced pyramid song is 4/4. (but i also dont know anything about music so what do i know).

radiohead track is nice. sounds a tad raw and unmixed but is nice nonethe less. i am so keen to hear what they're doing next next albumwise next.

Tried to watch spectre yesterday. Stopped after 20 mins. It's mostly a collection of chase scenes and fight scenes with some sexist bits sprinkled on top. After 20 mins I was craving those older sean connery bond movies. At least those had some kind of charm to them. These new ones take themselves way too seriously, imo.

Like the song. Hoping for a new release soon...

brilliant tune

felt it ended a bit quick, could of gone for another few minutes, perhaps in a slightly different direction, still cool though

i'm hearing it in 3/4. lovely track

yup me too, maybe the first loop on 1:35 throws people off as there are 5 bars of 3/4 and then the next repetitions just 4 bars

Don't like the track, messy pointlessness, now with string section. /waits for someone to ask what I'm doing on an electronic music forum if I don't like.. Haha, oh that's right, you can't do that for radiohead. ;-p

I don't praise everything they do. I have the lupine genetic dna running through my blood, bones and spirit which means while incredibly loyal (beyond limits) I also know when something or someone needs a good savage shakedown. That has also included myself (many times). Nothing is immune! Lol drunken fucking nonsense.

His voice seems incredible though. The tune just gets going then seems to just fizzle out. But his voice is another level.

What's for pudding? Fish eye, noodles and custard.

So maybe i'm jumping the gun a bit here but with the tour announcements today, i think this thread is justified....? Plus watmm is my main source for music news so would be good to have this thread for any news with regards to the release.

For those who haven't seen, today radiohead were announced as headliners for three festivals this year (http://www.wasteheadquarters.com/schedule) and also the twitter account Chieftan Mews has suddenly become active again, posting the usual cryptic messages that have come before other radiohead releases.

He's tweeted this picture: http://imgur.com/WvLvDO3, and also the Dirac equation: http://imgur.com/fiUr1jZ

Also according to Primavera the live set will be a new album (http://www.primaverasound.es/noticiaSingle?id=1418)

So yeah, looks like it won't be long. Dunno how interested everyone here is in radiohead, and i can't say i listen to them much anymore, but i used to love them and they're pretty much the reason i got into ae and aphex, so i'm always interested in hearing what they do next.

"ANIMA, a new record by Thom Yorke. Out on digital 27th June, physical 19th July.

A "one-reeler" film of the same name by Paul Thomas Anderson will appear on Netflix on 27th June, in collaboration with Thom Yorke and the choreographer Damien Jalet featuring music from the record.

Thom is also back on tour with the Tomorrow's Modern Boxes project, alongside Nigel Godrich (who produced the record) and Tarik Barri's live computer visuals. Full details in the Schedule section."

saw this and gave it a listen. got a good laugh. whoever did this could have tried a little harder though.

Surprise! Radiohead have announced their long-gestating follow-up to 2011’s The King of Limbs — it’s called Alraune and features 12 new tracks from the band. The album’s epic, 10 minute first single, “Metastasis” is streaming below. Details of the album’s release are forthcoming, but we’re seeing unverified reports that, like Thom Yorke’s Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes, it will be released on Saturday April 4th via BitTorrent and Bandcamp.
