Why Animal Collective is the worst thing to ever happen to the human race: 1. They like animals. I mean, who the fuck likes animals? Oh yeah, vegans and fags do. 2. Their lyrics don't mean anything/gibberish/hipster garbage. 3. Their music doesn't have any melody/structure/point/hipster garbage. 4. One of the guys wears a fucking flashlight on his head. What a fucking idiot. 5. Their album covers are shit and hurt my eyes. 6. Only 14 year olds like them. 7. Pitchfork likes them, and Pitchfork is hipster garbage, therefore making Animal Collective hipster garbage. 8. Some of their songs names include 'Daffy Duck', 'Guys Eyes', and 'Mouth wooed …

Sneak preview of COMPOSING WITH PROCESS 2. 1, the second episode of the series on generative music by Mark Fell and Joe Gilmore: http://bit.ly/csDGIk. Very soon available online. Summary The second episode in the series looks at the use of formal systems in the composition and performance of musical works. It explains the diversity of approaches to musical systems using a range of technologies and processes. The episode asks how we might distinguish systems based procedures in music to other musical activities, and makes reference to technological development and implementation, structural complexity, and relationships to other musical traditions. Sneak preview of Variations #6. The Library, a podcast by Jon Leidecker PDF: http://bit.ly/igmQ58 Variations #6. The Library is the sixth episode on the series on the history of sampling by sampling genius Wobbly. Summary: We encounter the establishment of sound libraries, collections explicitly curated for further use: sound objects presented as authorless, unfinished ingredients. Though some libraries contain newly commissioned generic sounds, specifically designed for maximum flexibility, the most widely used sounds are often sourced from commercial recordings, freed from their original context to propagate across dozens to hundreds of songs. From presets …

Aphex Twin Canadian IDM?

Hello all. My name is Vito Cusumano, I'm an audio engineering intern in Windsor, Ontario. I'm starting a brand new intelligent dance music radio show on our university radio station, 99.1 FM CJAM We are required by law to play a certain amount of "Cancon" (Canadian content) before a specific hour of the day. In other words, I need to have more intelligent dance music, braindance, acid house, breakcore, etc, from Canadian artists, if I want to host this show at a reasonable hour. It doesn't have to even be strictly IDM. I use the term very loosely. I'm going to be playing all sorts of electronic music, with a focus around the intelligent dance music style. Even if…

I've noticed that SND tracks appearing on compilation albums tend to be some of their best work (not unlike Autechre in this respect). Their remix of Billie Jean on Recovery was really cool, 2nd and 3rd clicks and cuts compilation tracks sound almost like SND mainstreamed, in a good way, and their Team Doyobi remix was in a league of its own. Does anybody here have recommendations for other SND tracks scattered on compilations?

I want some sick ass drum & bass tracks that kick you in the dick. If it's DnB and it makes you want to flail like a madman and/or put your head through a wall, lay it on me. I'll be dropping the best shit I find here and elsewhere at a venue in the near future (possibly 2 days from now, so hurry your ass up).

There's just something about them I love. Maybe it's that you're committed to it, like you can't just break it and have it be cool like a jewel case where you just throw the broken part away and get another. You really have to take care of it, and not spill anything on it. It's kinda like a nice comic book or something, like the cardboard or paper yellows over the years and it becomes like an artifact in your library. Gotta love those four fun little finger scoops for the disc. Plus there is such a variety of ways to set one up - double or triple trays, so many foldouts you can't count

I Was Young And I Needed The Money! is a sweet album :) if nothing else, this thread can be to appreciate this dude's one and only album. BUT! i have to ask what your views are on this Florian Schmitt fella. his style is remarkably close to squarepusher's. the album was released when jenkinson was releasing jazzy drum n bass, a year or two after feed me weird things+hard normal daddy were released. it was released on ninja tune, and this could be a way for him to release just that much more over two aliases. not to forgot it's this guys only album. another thought that crossed my mind was that it could be tom and vibert? i don't really think it sounds all that t…
