Pretty dull and damp Sunday where I am so I’m frittering and wasting my time in an offhand way and thought I’d start this rolling. I think it’s exceedingly good. What do you think?

after two listens, only 2 tracks stand out to me. a few too many mid tempo tracks one after the other. the jazzy orchestral bits and occasional bass synth are the standout aspects.

Still early days and still figuring out all the pieces of the puzzle but You Will Never Work In Television Again is an instant early favourite.

  • Rubin Farr changed the title to The Smile - A Light For Attracting Attention

I love this album. Lush arpeggios.

I especially like Skrting on the surface, there's something addictive about that 11/8 groove

Played it once Friday and once today, will clearly need more time to digest. Only listened to the first two singles ahead of the album as I dislike hearing too much when I know an album's coming. Glad I did that, as even the two I'd heard didn't stand out too much as familiar. Sounds quite good, couple of standouts so far I'd say are "Pana-vision" and "Thin Thing". As said above there are a lot of mid-tempo songs one after the other and they do blend together if you're not actively listening, which is not uncommon for Radiohead and especially the last one. I like the sound though and will keep listening. Feels fresh.

Great album. It has a chilled lonliness about it that scratches my itch.

Being more of a band instead of Thom over dinky beats works very much in its favour compared to the Eraser/Atoms for Peace etc. Those are too full of clicky clacky things beats. I think Radiohead and adjacent are much better as primarily a guitar driven rock band with some electronic flourishes than diving full into electronics (same is true for most rock bands)

A+++. So glad I was able to stay away from that slow drip of singles. The trend of half albums slowly being released is so obnoxious. Anyway, Jonny's guitar is amazing on this and Thom sounds great. Skinner's style fits this perfectly. Really, really love this.

1000000%. There should be a two single limit. I prefer one.

Dig the record, immediate reaction is it's the best album from J+T in 20 years.

Caught them live, too, it was loose and fun. Played for 85 minutes., think they did the whole album plus a cover and a couple of newly written tracks. Cool to see them in a relatively small club.

This album is great. The Same is like a part 2 to 2+2=5 where Thom is just like "Okay no more theatrics, time bomb is about to go off, it's getting ridic, I can't make that more explicit with this song".

"Thin Thing" is great. Definitely one of their best guitar oriented tracks. It feels like a hybrid between 2+2=5 and Paranoid Android. I kinda like it better than those both. I think due to how raw it is, and the guitar solo is more appealing than Paranoid Androids somehow. The simplification of their band has been good for this album. I do hope radiohead comes back, but the fact the other 3 aren't here means you hear Thom and especially Greenwood's influence even more as he has to fill space he normally doesn't have to fill.
