Do you think he actually listened to the album at all?

ha. i totally got this impression too.

it's a few paragraphs of him just saying he's not interested in the artist/album, with a mere reference or two to how the album actually sounds (there's a mention of the bass in sömnl), and low 5 point something rating.

pitchfork are pathetic.

Really? I'd agree with his overall interpretation of Plaid as a group—his explanation of their music in that "they've never really fucked with 'direction' in the first place" is something I can agree with, at least from Double Figure on.

While I don't know how his review of the record stands—haven't heard the new album yet—I don't think this is too terribly inaccurate a review of the band.

Sidenote: Instead of Mount Kimbie, he could have easily drawn a comparison between Lone and Plaid.

I agree, first part of the album is great, after track 5 it gets uninspired. Anyways, can't stop listening to Missing

thats not really what he says, he just says the first 5 are great and the rest is slightly less great. He mentions 35 summers and At Last as being stand-out tracks.

i'm not even going to bother to read it... i will just add the journalist to my list of people who need to be exterminated asap. :)

don't bother mate.. waste of bloody time. there's a part in one of the interviews where he basically knocks Ed and Andy Dog for being different.. haha :)

I hope Squarepusher himself read that one because it's freakin' funny

Funny enough - I agree with some of that review. My fave album from squarepusher is Rotted One Note and I was quite disappointed by Go Plastic when it came out, it did seem like a bit of a step back (though it did grow on me).

His accusation that SP 'hasn't bothered to learn the latest software' is just bizarre though.

i listened to 'founded' today and it reminded me how lovely this plaid really is

what do you think of the whole album?

i like its world of faerie, enchanted forest sound. the delicate twinkling and plickity-plunking set against dark wormhole sounds that plaid are so talented at achieving. i'm very harppy with it

one thing that bothers me is that it sounds slightly louder than their previous works. of course the tools are new and fresh, but it doesn't feel as intimate as what they have brought us in the past. other than that, it is truly beautiful and one of their best for sure.
