How does the World view America these days?

from a quick dabble that old bloke sounds west-country/Irish at times

i found the shift from NY to Philly to Baltimore to DC/northern VA was always interesting, geographically for the US not that far apart, but by accent theres a huge difference

there was BBC radio doc that had found German recordings of British WWI prisoners of war from locations now technically London suburbs.... complete change within a couple of generations from borderline yokel to ya gets meh bwlad

what a stupid bitch

edit: those guys showed great restraint and were actually quite respectable considering that rant she went on. I'm not a violent guy but would have been tempted to knock the lady out.

tempted at least.

A good reason why people's mental health issues need to be treated.

True, but is ignorance a mental health issue? Some people are intelligent but still ignorant. Can't say this woman falls into the intelligent category but stupidity can't be treated can it?

I'm starting to empathize more than ever with people who love their country but can't stand the government and political geography/status quo. That's probably the biggest irony of very nationalist and angry voters, Trump ones especially, they demonize the immigrants of the Americas and Middle East without realizing the 99.9% of them are coming to America because they see it as an oppurtunity and escape from oppression and economic futility. I still really like the idea of America and it's core values as inclusionary and novel in the sense of being composed of the world's refugees, oppressed expats, and anyone wishing for a better life.

theory & practice are all underpinned by money, like a lot of human systems

its 1 aspect of US life i found v refreshing, the notion of being a citizen as opposed to a subject (compared to Britain's monarchy as an example), more scrutiny of public spending as opposed to say the EU's Common Agricultural Policy corruption farce and thats not a pro-Brexit line. Its surprisingly subtle & i gained new respect for the questioning of how tax revenue was spent by govt by all classes & races of folks (accountability of govt).

the US isnt the first nation to experience shady govts and ignorant so-called citizens, but its unfortunate that perceptions around the world are often formed & digested via some gun nut ranting about oaths and constitutional sanctity due to the explosion in technology

the real tragedy is how these core values were always going to be undermined & exploited by an economic control system that has maintained elites as well as any other culture has in history or prehistory for that matter

A former police sergeant has been held without charges in a federal detention cell in Philadelphia, part of an effort by the authorities to pressure him to decrypt two computer hard drives believed to contain child pornography.

The case reveals yet another battle line for law enforcement and digital privacy advocates over encryption, this time on an Apple computer, not an iPhone.

Cruz using a slimy 7th grade debate tactic of asking other guy a question, in order to throw him off his argument & support of Trump... to make him stutter. This guy held his ground like a champ against creep Cruz, that characterless ass. I'd like to make a gang-bang porno with his wife. She seems sick of this slimball... and actually looks like she'd be into that shit. God, Cruz is sooo aweful.
