The Caretaker - Everywhere At The End Of Time

Has probably been posted before but I really dig his take on Imagine.

I think anybody who has played around with ring modulation and other tricks would recognize it's not very easy to have something as legible but markedly different come out the other end. Easy or difficult in music is a pointless gatekeeping talking point, much more important whether it speaks to you in some way. Some good music is certainly difficult to make and maybe yeah, it'd suck if everybody just pitch shifted ballroom music. But we're not, and V/VM is obviously making an impact on people.

Manipulating a vocal so it’s still a vocal, but unrecognizable is an art form unto itself

I've finally written and submitted an article on The Caretaker to the British Journal of Psychiatry. It had a 500 word limit so it's more of an introduction mainly for Psychiatrists just to raise awareness of his work. I'm a Psychiatry doctor still in training and worked for 6 months on end-stage dementia ward.

I find his work incredibly important both conceptually, but also to just enjoy.

I'll post my article here when I'm able to, not sure if it'll get picked up for publication but I hope it does.

I'd like to write something much more longform at some point once I've finished a couple of exams and have time, and try and link it to actual practice with some of the Old Age Psychiatry Consultants but that will be a major piece of work for another day.

His tracks are now officially on streaming:

"I don't want it there but it is what it is. Endless bad actors and snide uploaders monetised it [my work] constantly for greed and made what they made. Time to draw a line under this chapter now and look forward to days where I no longer have to issue endless takedown requests, speaking only to bots, fighting my corner completely alone."

Wakey wakey baldy. It's trash. Listen to better music in future, there's a good manbaby.  Trying to justify this clown after the abuse he sent Scanner..he's cancelled, Baldrick. Didn't you get the memo, you hairless bug eyed goon

Nice read. I have a background as a researcher myself, so I find it amusing that even a short "cultural" article like this needs a year of reviewing before publishing.

I already asked this somewhere in another thread, but I´m puzzled by the sudden change from stage 3 to stage 4. The shift into full blown confusing noise. Is the development of dementia always slow, or is it sometimes more sudden? Like it gets really worse from one day to the next?

Depends on type. Vascular dementia would be the one that would tend to be stepwise as likely related to a new infarction/stroke. Other types tend to be more insidious typically.

This was some twitter drama thing Scanner posted in the early 2020s (and a now deleted blog post - https://web.archive.org/web/20201026184314/https://scannerdot.com/2020/03/playground-behaviour-in-the-cultural-industries/  ) regarding Kirby's antics during the late 90s v/vm days/persona. This was brought up during the wild early UK lockdown days with all sorts of global political nightmares going on, so everyone was going stir crazy over here! James (Caretaker) and Robin (Scanner) are definitely not on bad terms nowadays

Schlitze is an institution. Plus he has the best avatar on here after mine

The av was a collaboration between me and the late triachus around the time of Tomorrow's Harvest..I did the colours and background and tri did all the face detail..I recall telling him ”i need those eyes to be much more like Joel Edgerton, more like tiny little peepers"

He damn well delivered
