“I have composed very few pieces of music as short as ten seconds before, and given the very low bandwidth available, I was obliged to carefully consider what kind of musical materials would produce a satisfying result under these constrained conditions. Simplicity seemed a wise policy, so I decided to use just one instrument, and make sure the majority of the frequency spectrum was below the Nyquist frequency, which is the limit of what can be represented at a specific sample rate -in this case 3200 Hz. The electric bass seemed a good choice, and again keeping simplicity in mind, I chose a primarily melodic route with very little polyphony that I was afraid would get los…

i kinda wish he'd show more of his time-and-space warping hiphop style tracks (if there are any). i love how these tracks make you feel like you're losing your mind. the constant unintelligible speech along with cold, metallic percussion/drones make you feel like you're peering into the mind of a schizophrenic locked in a mental hospital honorable mention, much more calm & groovy, but still has the uneasiness if anyone knows of similar tracks, squarepusher or otherwise, i'd love to see them

I'll just shamelessly rip this from Fact (ha!), haven't seen any other source report it though: http://www.factmag.com/2016/01/15/squarepusher-warp-deluxe-reissues/ The Warp Records mainstay will launch a reissue program later this year. The electronic titans have today announced a series of deluxe Squarepusher reissues to be released later this year. They’re yet to reveal which albums will get the reissue treatment, but we’d guess that 1997’s Hard Normal Daddy and 1998’s Music Is Rotted One Note are near the top of the pile for albums, while mid-90s EPs like Port Rhombus and Big Loada are ripe for revisits. As well as this, Squarepusher has announced three n…

Excellent show. Nothing was going to top RDJ's set for me emotionally or in visceral impact but fucking hell Squarepusher's show was incredible sounding (well done whoever set that stage up) and the visuals were brilliant. Loved the reaktor patch shots mixed in with the other visuals. Tom was having a lot of fun up there as well. No bass or full band but he still ripped, especially when he was playing around with a track in the middle of the set, speeding up and slowing down breakbeats live and being cheeky. I haven't been as well versed in Tom's discography for years now so beyond the obvious cuts from Damogen Furies I didn't recognize everything by name immediat…

So was just playing the Pointless pub quiz and the prize question was famous bass players. Squarepusher appeared on the list and we won £7 as he was the pointless answer! I knew my liking of 'obscure' music would some day reap rewards. Thanks Tom!

I've heard exidy tours and I thought it was the shit. But I havn't heard his Acid Crew album cause it's out of print :cry2:. I'm new to him, although I did just buy the Megalift EP. How do you compare him to good ol' Tom. I also ask because I have CD money from my birthday so I don't know whether to go out of my way and get Volume 1. Or pick up Squarepushers Square Window and Venus #17 releases off ebay. I missed those 2 cause in the states they're nearly impossible to find. And don't say get em all... I get stuff 1 at a time, I'm a puss like that.

Does this exist? It's supposedly on the Japanese Go Plastic, but I've never seen such a thing, and the Red Hot Cock cd single just has the paulstretch-type track and that crude, cute little jungle track on it, but no Direct to Mental.

Went to the Shobaleader One show last night in Los Angeles. WOW, this was probably the best show I've ever been to, no exaggeration. The players were excellent. Of particular note was the drummer, who literally played every single note in Squarepusher's fast tracks. The tracks were actually done at the same tempo as the originals, which was astounding. I couldn't understand how that drummer did that. What's awesome is that they played a wide variety from Tom's repertoire...the tracklist was basically immaculate. There was only one track that I think was brand new, the rest are listed below. Tracklist (written the next morning, while my memory's still f…

Hi everyone, I'm very interested in what's going on harmonically in some of Tom's tracks. Specially in some of his beautifully written organ parts. I know there are some people on this forum that are good with music theory (LimpyLoo, danke, jmbf44..??).. Probably someone finds time and motivation to shed some light on one of these tracks for example: - Our underwater torch: - Unreleased #4: Thanks in advance..
