The LED mask/helmet is a curious creature. I've never found this headgear hip and i think it's a distraction from the music. Daft Punk go with this kinda thing on the basis that it makes them robotic even though there are about 1000 artists who sound more robotic than Daft Punk. Very surpised to see Tom go with this style with the LED mask. He really seems to be going completely with the visual style of this thing and tends to rave on about it more than his trax. Does Tom need to get rid of this mask in order to progress? And would you let this LED mask control you in the way that it did Jim Carrey and Tom?

Since some of you have been listening hard to the latest SQP, what do you say? There seems to be some question on how it's been received among WATMMites.

this thingy i will just express this as a series of imos: imo it wouldn't have worked on drukqs cause it's ener-g but it's too unfocused ener-g. Also it doesn't twist and turn like drukqs does, I feel like I'm playing an old-skool NES racing game where you're not actually turning and not even really moving forward in 3d space it's just an optical illluuusion imo it sounds like megaman and not to hate on megaman but usually the phex's music usually allows me to make more abstract/interesting comparisions/mental interpretations than 'feels like i'm playin megaman'. I have also made the argument that there is dance music that actually feels like THINGS and then t…

Yeah this was certainly the cherry on the cake for a simply astounding experience both sonically and visually on top of an already quality weekend. I loved the xbox connect mapping sound active projection separately on Tom whilst the background was going wild with an oscilloscope. Also loved the back stage jazz jamming whilst everything was being set up beforehand Anyhowz we ended up having to get close to the front which meant the Function1's overpowered the mic in places but it's better than nowt. thankyou Mr Jenkinson snr

I was at the Barbican show and my girlfriend was able to spot from the back row a fencing mask! I think this video proves she was right. Also, is that an Xbox Kinect? Nice to see the Warwick Corvette 6 rather than the custom shop job of late. This interview goes into a bit of tech about the new show. http://thequietus.com/articles/17497-squarepusher-interview Happy geeking.

both are so good you wish you wrote them [speaking for myself inthe almost 3rd] the mastering seems sharper on psultan but borgnine is raw both are epic true story: on queensday 2001 in amsterdam i dropped sultan on a big system on the street and i made an old lady pushing her laundry basket stop and start raving around a bit…i was so happy i saw that…….'this was at like 3 in the afternoon so i vote psultan

It only seems right that there should be a separate thread for the mini EP that comes with the limited edition versions of Ufabulum Anyways, the highlight for me is around the middle of Anger Integer where the drums speed up faster and faster and mutate to become a synth line before rapidly slowing down again to become percussion hits again. Simple idea but gorgeously executed. Panic Massive sounds like something made during the era between Just A Souvenir and Shobaleader One. Contrary to many here I love both albums, and thus also love this one. 40.96a - lovely bit of minimal experimentation, I do like it when Tom slows things down occasionally to produce mo…

So this is a classic SP song, everyone knows it... but I think it needs to be mentioned every day of the fucken year. His Bass breakdown in the middle, is not only his best bass playing he's ever done, but maybe the most emotionally resonating I've EVER heard. It's simply fucken amazing. When SP is on his game like this, he really doesn't sound like anyone b4 or after him, it's just square-fucken-pusher. And this is one of the first songs I point to people when they say "ALL APHEX TWIN UZIQ AE BOC SQUAREPUSHER SOUNDS THE SAME"!!! The saddest part about this song to, is that he'll probably never make anything like this again. O well, hurray for more SP post-modern ji…

I don't know the exact day of release but it was 1994 for sure when Squarepusher released his first two EPs into the world. At that point he still ran under his official name of Tom Jenkinson but the Crot EP and in particular the Stereotype EP already showed where we would be heading - into some really strange future. 20 years and 39 releases later it's time to reminisce and enjoy a career-spanning megamix running through 33 of his releases at full speed. It's only one track per release, 33 tracks in 95 minutes and - as always with Bertolt Brechtakt - vinyl only (except for two tracks which are only available on CD ). So, bring it on and enjoy! And use proper h…

So, going back to the Z Machines vid I spotted a link to the Japanase iTunes store. This led me to search for it in my native store and apparently, an EP is coming out for this! 1. Remote Amber (2:23) 2. Sad Robot Goes Funny (5:13) 3. World Three (4:38) 4. Dissolver (7:16) 5. You Endless (3:50) Expected release date is 7th of April. I screencapped the thing if it gets taken out of the store again, but please do check yourselves

Absolute genius. Every time I play this song it's almost as if real life becomes a music video. This song was built for walking about a big city with headphones on. I made this small vid from walking about this afternoon. http://ikimasho.net/2014/09/14/the-do-over-tokyo-2014/ Any of you have a song that evokes similar feelings?
