Hey guys, just got this dubstep album wrapped up! It's more or less experimental, going in all kinds of directions. http://sharee.bandcamp.com/album/stormbreaker Had lots of fun working with it, hope you'll enjoy it.

OK, first one of these I heard of was Wevie Stonder, and recently I've heard of the likes of: Com Truse Joy Oribison I mean, WTF - do they think they're clever riffing off a popular artist's name? Are there any other examples of stupid shit like this? Oh, and GET THE FUCK off mah lawn!

Autechre Free (legal) music
by Guest mrguy- 22 replies

Lots of IDM/electronic artists make their music avaiable for free, so I feel we need a thread so more people can know about it. Free Aphex Twin Autechre I'm sure most people know about those anyway, but it might be helpful for a few that haven't. Share away! This is a list of (non-electronic) free music I made one bored day a few months ago, so some links may not still be valid... Kscope North Atlantic Oscillation Nosound Steven Wilson Engineers Anekdoten Saturday Morning Pictures Bloodbath Peter Chilvers Darkthrone free exclusive remix of Take It All My Dying Bride Ozric Tentacles Katatonia BLLD Abscess Bar…

Swans

So I am a noob when it comes to Swans. I just heard their new track called "Eden Prison" from their upcoming album. You can listen to it here - http://www.tinymixtapes.com/chocolate-grinder/listen-swans-eden-prison Now I understand they have a huge catalogue and lot of their earlier albums used to sound quite different. So can anyone recommend me a good album to begin with that sounds more like "Eden Prison"??? Thanks.

This is my song tracker, which can be heard in my signature at the bottom of this post. This was made by my friend under the name of Ektrn. I would post a link to his art but it's not readily available. If you would like any more info just comment.

(This was originally a post in the IDM/Braindance thread, but it grew too tangential, so here we are.) The classification/nomenclature thing we humans do is pretty nifty. It's one of the things that separates us from other animals. When classifying music, I usually like to approach it in several ways. The largest categories in my system are similar to language classifications (vulgar vs classical): vulgar/folk often social and conservative usually focused on performance/experience learning based on mimicry refined/academic often introspective and experimental usually focused on creation/product learning based on theory/knowledge Examples: vul…

i discovered this group today and have already downloaded all their albums, amazingly awesome atmospheric 70's/80's sounding synth/movie music, like a mix between old italian zombie movie soundtracks and vangelis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K65XVKr81ME http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRrULd9aOQk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C55j6tbtaU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSBO7f_g9Lk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfwgpdfZa8k can't get enough of this stuff.

I love keyboards, and I'm slowly getting into prog, so can someone point me in the direction of some good mellotron music? I can't say that I've heard the mellotron properly, but from descriptions I've heard i get the feeling it is an instrument I'm going to adore.

I can't seem to be able to get any response from the catchup player for radio on the BBC site. Was hoping some peeps can try it out and see if it's just me. BBC aren't helping. I'm desperate to listen to 6 music from last Saturday (Craig Charles big chill) Cheers

Autechre Electronica documentary - is there any?
by Guest Bornnover- 7 replies
- 5.1k views
Hi, I am just wondering if there's any worth-watching documentary about history o Electronic Music, including IDM and artists such as Autechre, Aphex Twin etc.. I know there's a german movie in preparation, but is there anything like Seven ages of rock (aired on BBC) for electronic music? I mean something, that would be also technically good, not some documentaries done at home. I've tried searching but I couldn't get anything. Thanks.

Jackson Remixes 1 2
by Guest Backson- 25 replies
- 2.3k views
I'm fond of a fellow called Jackson, and I have only great things to say about his computer band. There was a point prior to his working on his debut where he would to tracks and remixes heavily inspired by chicago house and a bit of minimalism, and I'm not a huge fan of his work then. But circa 2005 he picked up his game and did some fantastic remixes in his collage/chaotic style. I've got his mix of Dead Combo, can anyone suggest anything else I may not be aware of yet?

all of these were made between last july and now. i figured i would upload all my favorite random creations from the past year that will never be released $$$officially$$$. there are electronic jams, pop songs with singing and melody, plain hip hop beats, weird hip hop beats, guests (1 captain pack, producing an ep for him right now. we'll see what happens), piano music, a little classical, and pseudo jazz. there are other random things included. this is about 4/5ths of everything i "finished" in the past year. the other ones suck. if you like anything you hear here, be sure to check back for a "debut" "record" from "corn" "cat" in september. more details late…

The Best Rapper Of All Time Has Died
by Guest analogue wings- 20 replies

I just found out my all time favourite rapper has died at the super young age of 49. The performer, the equation, RΑΜΜΣLLΖΣΣ The Rammellzee started off tagging trains in the 70s right back at the very birth of hip hop. Then he started rapping - He's in Wild Style freestyling and carrying a shotgun cos some guy he had beef with had threatened him (he took the piss out of gangsta rappers before they even existed). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lz24D-UyZwE A few years later him and K-Rob voiced on Beat Bop - a 10 minute dubbed out masterpiece produced by Basquiat and considered by many the first Trip Hop track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9I56Kkxh…

i don't think i've bought a single on CD since about 2005, and it seems not only have they disappeared from major labels, but our beloved indies as well. i know Warp has adopted the "vinyl or digital" model, what about places like Rephlex and Mu?
