i don't think i've bought a single on CD since about 2005, and it seems not only have they disappeared from major labels, but our beloved indies as well. i know Warp has adopted the "vinyl or digital" model, what about places like Rephlex and Mu?

As you probably know, Squee and Rook started a project last year to put the 1927 silent film Metropolis to music composed by Watmmers. The project stalled for a little while, but roughly half of the 23 sequences have been done. With the agreement of the people involved, I have collected together everything I could find and started to put it into Youtube. Here are three of the sequences. I will post a few more in this thread over the next few days. Then hopefully more after that, as we track down the work that was done, and eventually allocate people to do the unfinished sequences. edit: Oct 10th: all the unfinished sequences have been allocated to new people, shou…

i really would like more of this sound, album and ep wise, kinda like , justice, uffie, boys noize, sebastiean m, modeslektor, oizo, as you can see i'm a bit clueless and most of the stuff i've heard is ed banger... so Someone, educate me. i don't care about labels just individual artists that are good high energy dance music and modern. chh hch chee4rs

It was sort of a funk song. Probably a little later than James Brown era, I dont know for sure I'm just guessing. Anyway the lyrical were really fucking generic, like: "We want the love" or "Everybody deserves some love". But the most striking thing about the song was this epic guitar solo where the singer sang all the notes the guitar was playing. Sometimes they would fall momentarily out of sync but for the most part they were in time. Anyone able to name that tune?

"Battles and Tyondai would like to let their fans know they have chosen to follow their own musical paths. Due to Battles' ambitions of finishing their second studio album followed by commitments to a full touring schedule in 2011, and Tyondai's own commitments as a solo artist and his desire not to tour, both Battles and Tyondai have decided to move on without each other. It is a sad but amicable split. Battles wishes Tyondai all the best" http://warp.net/records/battles/an-announcement-from-battles I hope they continue without Tyondai.

I ran into these fine gents on tour and I liked their tunes enough that I thought I'd share and maybe get them some new listeners, or see if anyone else has heard of them. I don't really have a nose for this kind of rock indie whatever you call it these days, and I'm sure there are loads of other great bands out there. At any rate it was a pleasure meeting them and they were kind enough to give me a CD. Pretty good tunes for a lazy summer afternoon. you can have a listen of their album on the site. http://www.dangermuffinmusic.com/

I really dig this track. Can any watmm'ers recommend any tracks which have a similar vibe? Not even sure what genre of electronic/dance music you would call it. Cheers!

Anyone have a Jackson DJ Set?
by Guest Backson- 13 replies

I've been waiting forever to ask, but i had to wait for my other Jackson threads to die away. Does anyone have any? I really want to know what he plays, and what he sees as music that suits his style. Preferably recent. Oh yeah, and a good quality Clark recording from after Turning Dragon would be great too. thx.

Okay, so i've been meaning to change my music player for a while now. I haven't yet because of all the hassle of doing so. But I just reset my computer, so now is a perfect time. I want something that I can manage my iPod with and something that is supported by last.fm Any suggestions?
