Hemsby

Anyone been to Hemsby? I've only just made the connection that the AE live show was at that Hemsby. It's among the weirdest places I've ever been in my life. Driving through it on a cloudy day while wandering around the surrounding areas through country lanes was absolutely surreal. It's like a mini Las Vegas with flashy casino signs, but its plasticky æsthetic makes it feels like you're on an abandoned movie set. Shiny toy horses for kids to ride on and shit. It's like the town center is a carnival. Here are some pictures from Hemsby Maybe I'm overreacting, I just really think it's the weirdest fucken place

I've felt that, often times, the most climactic, dramatic moments on the Autechre albums are the penultimate (second-to-last) tracks. I actually didn't listen to "Teartear" for a while because "Nil" just sounded like a proper ending to Amber (though I do feel "Teartear" is a very good ending now that I've listened to it a lot). I don't think all albums they've done have penultimate tracks that feel like penultimate tracks, but Autechre do execute such a technique in most of them I feel. My vote: "recks on" Second half is really tense and unsettling, and when the vocoded(?) voice comes in, it sounds like the album summoned an animatronic lifeform out of its electron…

Which do you prefer, the Untilted version of LCC or the Glasgow Art School Live version? I prefer the Glasgow version. It's so much more lush and the melody is more apparent as well as more melancholy. It's so much more detailed than the Untilted version and just far more enjoyable overall

So I am at an out door rave with Rob and Sean and the rave is finishing up so we decide to go back to a place we are staying. Rob decides he wants to go swimming while Sean and I go to some pub and he shows me all these amazing mods and tricks on his Roland MC202. He was pulling sounds on the 202 that you cant do in the real world. Shame you cant record your dreams!

The samples at the beginning start all Aphex like and the melodies would be perfectly at home in the RDJ album. The chords at first are perfect and then the voices that come in later sound exactly like the samples he uses towards the end of the RDJ album. Same exact accent, pretty much same distortion. The pads that come in later are also incredibly RDJ-sounding. Sounds like some twisted version of Bucephalus Bouncing Ball. You folks hear it?

i hadn't heard of gas before i heard the bleep 10 compilation, and someone said they really liked pop by gas, so i decided to check that out, and untitled 2 on it is exactly the same as the intro to syptixed, same intervals and same key and roughly same timing and textures. granted, it is a simple droney thing, but i sort of wonder if this was them unintentionally internalizing something and copying it, or if they had never heard this track and syptixed just happened to turn out the same way. Gas, Untitled 2: (starting at 5:13)Syptixed

Dear Sean and Rob, If you don't have the soundboards from the Quaristice live set era, do you still have the live set programmed in your Elektrons to transfer to .mp3/flac? Oh it would be amazing to hear these live sets in super quality. The melodic hooks throughout are lush. Sean, Rob, pls. Thx.

From after the Philly show as posted by gl0tch: here I think its worth its own thread for various reasons: - snapshot in time of genuine fans (they'd been to multiple Ae gigs) - interesting (drunken) points made - its fucking funny So whatcha think? - I love it that fan # 3 gets about 2 words in! - The Fandango comments are gas craic - how hes like the Oregan school shooter...he "sees through" the music (..maybe dunno) - The recorder seems to get it more than the ranter but i still appreciate the ranters stance. The fact is these shows don't have the same melodic or rhythmic hooks as previous shows. He just forgot to give his brain over t…

So far in chatmm we've had: 'man, I love that inside out sequence in glrB0' 'i love the part that was just an unedited 20 min field recording of a morris dancing festival' 'the bit where Sean sings in G1055olaILi@, fuuuck' 'Rob's trombone solo on iknorite_13 is great' 'I loved the melancholic mandolin solo on "we've run out of watmm threads to reference"' 'too bad they went with "Twelp" as album title though' 'I thought it was 'Tweld'?' 'depends on how you decipher the greeting card sound module inserted in the sleeve' 'what's the japanese bonus track like?' 'it's a generative m3u file, just cycles forever and never repeats, quit…
