when i was seventeen i was accused by my employer at the time of being 'anti-fashion'. if something was accessible or rhythmic or even worse... melodic, or something that god forbid joe sixpack might like, it was bad. it was worse than bad. it was something that anyone could like. it wasn't at an elevation only accessible via an invisible walkway from my ivory tower. it was... fun. oh god this music sounds like some other music. these frenchmen are literally worse than hitler.

 

i'm glad that i can enjoy both exai and random access memories these days.

Music journos and their idea of innovation lol, so right they went and tried to do with all that money wasted, what

they think others can't do with a live band and thats innovative? Its been done and done better.

 

Another wanker imo who tries to proclaim what only he can do with walls of modular synths that most can't afford yet fails is Trent Reznor. This elitist attitude they use to try and stave off those they fear might knock them from their throne is all BS.

The main problem with album is that the songs are bland shit. The melodies are horribly cheesy. I can't listen to "within" without cringing. The fact that it was hyped up and is a disco album just makes the situation worse.

i didn't want to pull this card but i think that what you make of this album is incredibly dependent on how old you are. if you're of a similar age to thomas and guy-man, it makes a lot more sense.

I never really cared for Daft Punk, and this adds to the general 'meh'

The vocoder stuff is cool, the guitar parts are silky and the feel of the album is very clean/well produced, but its just plain boring and hideously cheese-pop at times. I wanted to like it but it doesn't really even sound like daft punk.

I like Daft Punk's first two album (and the Alive 2007 thing was great too).

 

I think i'm more hostile towards the reaction from the media, its just too much. Normally when i dont like an album i either make one post saying i dont like it or i'll just dont post at all and forget about it but i think there is a lot to say about the reaction from so-called music experts.

and you shouldn't care about the media. what do YOU think about it? why do you care what paul morley or $pitchfork_journalist$ or anyone, ANYONE but YOU think about it. i'm not a music expert, however if i like something and the weird version of 'popular opinion' on this site (not enough glitches, didn't sample enough broken elevators, someone's girlfriend might dance to it) goes against it, i might express my appreciation. most of the time i couldn't be bothered.
