It's been blown out of proportions by the media tbh, if Europe can't handle this, we're pretty much a bunch of cunts.

And by handling this, I don't mean the Hungary/Denmark model, I mean the Sweden/Germany model.

Lol at people calling it an invasion of Muslims.

8 million dispersed relatively evenly throughout Europe? Less than 1% of the population?

Lol or because they're healthy they're not refugees.

So we should only accept them when they're dying of disease and starvation, even though they have no homes?

Funny how just a few decades ago the Hungarians and Poles fleeing persecution in WW2 had no problems demanding refugee status then.

Fucking bunch of hypocrites.

my mate (and hes an energy scientist) stated it was like 1/7000th of a percent currently 'invading' Britain or something. I tend to trust him more than the daily fail or cameroon

no problems here

Where I'm from, people critical of immigrants tends to be people on government benefits. People who want to keep their privileged position of living in a welfare state where you can get away with doing nothing all day.

Me personally, I'd rather have my tax money to go a needing immigrant, than some lazy xenophobic homegrown fat white ass motherfucker.

Maybe we could make a switch deal of sort - send them the other way?

the US media has it's head so far up its own ass, all I really see locally is that one Hungarian bitch tripping a guy and his own daughter, we are so occupied by Donald Trump, nothing else matters to our media cycle. sadly.

during a meeting of french mayors to discuss the logistics of refugee reception, an fn party (le pen) mayor criticizes the refugee policy. gets called a fascist, a collabo and booed by the entire audience

fucking lol at fascists calling people who disagree with them fascists.

i'm not even defending the booed guy, that's not my point here. i'm just arguing the french establishment is a bunch of retarded cunts.

i'm woefully ignorant about the cultural histories of the region, but my impression is that the saudis and those other peninsula countries consider themselves very culturally distinct from the peoples of the old Ottoman lands. We're getting the same story in the US (put aside our effing shameful showing here for the moment), but the underlying tone is that the Saudis aren't doing their part, and they should be, you know, because they're also muslium. But again, my sense is, and I could be wrong, that the Saudis consider themselves a totally different people. Maybe something like chastising Japanese people for not taking in Chinese people in some hypothetical crisis (just in case I hadnt already offended enough people yet with my ignorance). It sucks, sure, but shouldn't be surprising.

Anyway, it's wonderful that Germany and others are accepting these people. Merkel may end up getting a Nobel prize for this, but maybe I'm being too generous. And it is totally shameful, TOTALLY shameful that the US is doing squat. There have been a few episodes in recent history where we've looked back and been like, "Dang, we really messed that one up" (Rwandan genocide comes to mind) and this one will almost certainly settle in that category when we look back. Ugh.

This comforts me in a way, that it's not just England with this kind of mindset. The funny thing is that people here are going batshit over how many migrants we're getting, despite the fact we're getting far less than any other country.

It's good that in the end the people don't really get a choice about it: we will be housing migrants in need and that's that. Plus, the added bonus of David Cameron absolutely stuck politically, his big boasts about how he wasn't going to kowtow to Europe being held against him.

The pictures in the news of people taking food and water to the travellers of their own will makes me happy too. I will try to do the same should any come way of my tiny town.

Yes, this is definitely true. The Arabs tend to look down on the Levantines and Palestinians due to them being mostly converted Jews and Christians, it's definitely a racial distinction in their eyes. Same with the Turks, Persians and Africans and Asians as well. I think this is a relatively modern phenomenon though, I don't think there were such strong racial distinctions (at least not in a negative sense) during the Ottoman empire, or previous Islamic empires.

It's especially shameful from the US because they're probably the nation most capable of integrating immigrants, Europe has been incredibly shit at this in recent years, where multiculturalism has mostly resulted in ghettoisation and resentment.

perfect. exactly how i feel about my own country's attitudes too.

EDIT: the accompanying picture of the woman with the scrunched up face is the cherry on top

Well there are *apparently* 30,000 young homless people in the London area alone.

The "helping ourselves first" stance do have a bit of a point that we do have a homeless and poverty issue within the UK to address.

But as a nation we can be great at helping others, hopefully the Syrian crisis gets resolved soon (not sure how though) and they won't need to rely on us.

Agreed its pretty shitty that the Arab states are not even farting to help towards the cause. They are the rich ones with plenty of space and on the doorstep!

This is not the only video I'm seeing that is making me mad. There are videos of migrants in hungary chanting "Fuck you" and "allahu akbar", stories of them throwing shit (actual human shit) at german authorities, and beating up an old lady in italy. The old lady was ripped out of her car by a bunch of young men, stealing her car so they could drive up to Germany.

i know right? so they must all be scumbags, white people literally do not commit crimes.

huh? no that's retarded. White people probably commit most crime, imperialism etc etc. I never commented on anyone's skin colour?

It's all about classwarfare. This migrant crisis is a good distraction for Europeans to ignore the big class struggle that is going on. It's not the migrants fault that you are poor and there are thousands of homeless people in your cities, it's the ruling elites fault.

Realize there's a huge xenophobic sentiment in the US these days, why Trump is gaining popularity among some whites, they blame illegal aliens for our countrie's problems, he's painted them as rapists, criminals, and drug dealers. We used to be called the world's melting pot, but that seems to be a bygone era. Some People born in the US want to keep it for themselves, forget this country was built by African slaves, Chinese immigrants, Irish refugees. We have forgotten our own history, and are doomed to repeat it. As this century drags on it will only get uglier as the Earth's population swells and resources become more limited. It's not an easy thing to accept and I stay optimistic bc we have to just to go on, but it will get ugly. Be sure of that.

So the food aid wasn't refused because of the red cross:

http://www.ilpost.it/2015/08/25/debunking-migrants-video-red-cross-macedonia/

Also the stories of people throwing feces and beating an old lady were written by one guy on facebook and spread rapidly around sites like infowars, stormfront, all those fine bastions of journalism. No actual video or photographic evidence seems to exist.

In the meantime, attacks on refugee camps continue to take place:
