Zero promotion of the NTS and almost no media attention made me thinking about the economics behing Autechre. How are they making money? From the AAA thread we know that they were (?) on the Warp bill with a monthly commission. That seemed to be working well and the boys didn't seem to be bothered. Though one of them (can't remember which one) said that it gets tight financially and he can't afford all he needed. The arrangement held until AE_LIVE. The concerts' posters had a Warp logo, but the music was realased exclusively on their bleep store without the warp support/promotion. Elseq has followed this pattern. We know that there's a deal between warp and blee…

What ya got? Gonna go with 5:06 here. Sounds like the track is cannibalising itself whilst drowning in tar https://youtu.be/4zK2voChLtc?t=306

10 years ago today, Autechre released Quaristice. I know that the old Quaristice thread has been recently resurrected, but considering the major landmark I felt justified creating an entirely new thread (if not, feel free to delete this). I have a few thoughts I wanted to share... First of all, this was the first "new" Autechre album to be released since I had become a fan. I started listening in late '06 or early '07, wearing out my CD of EP7 before delving into LP5, Incunabula, Confield, Amber, ect. Along with the fact that it came out on my 17th birthday, I've always felt a bit of a special connection with Quaristice. Second, I don't think there's been a single…

https://youtu.be/wdKIJHXzPkk?t=500 Cracks me up every time. Even though it's just a little interlude it's probably my fave moment from that tour. Absurd.

Never heard both of these titles. Could someone PM me for a link or etc? Dying to hear the rest it's beauty. Trying to make a playlist and I thought that placing their Resonance live radio set they did in 2003 would be nice, then the extended ambient wood structures thing, and then ae3oxh3ae. Any other types of droney and slightly unnerving sets ae has done I should be aware of?

no there's no such thing as 'best'/ no pro radii is is it ? why does it stand out among everything else ? Is it just me ? maybe it's due to it being the most otherworldly alien track that's so divorced from the reality that two blokes made it. Like recently i've been thinking about HR Giger, and tending to look at everything in comparison to him. So, if Giger is the pinnacle of humans dark imagination, then everything else would be, say 0.8% as interesting as Giger, or 1.3% as interesting, and so on. I think Parhelic Triangle leaps to, possibly..actually very high i really love this track. probably 79% as interesting as Giger?

absolutely fucking joking here, what if it was rob actually? haha lmao i'm thinking the beats would be slower over all. way more delay. more of a "dub" vibe if you will. sort of "carribean isles" things of that nature as well. hardly different from say, the scientist or whomever it was. mbm too. idk guys, sounds lush. it's one of those things that makes me just think "aha, this smoking has revealed to me things normally not really noticed check it out." idk mods delete this

I could have resurrected an ep7 thread, but I want to praise this song specifically. It is: • hands down, my favorite Autechre track • The best album opener out of any of Autechre's • The first bit always makes me think of Baba O'Reily, making it even more epic • Easily one of the funkiest Autechre tunes • Ridiculously awesome textural mashing • It leads into the rest of the album, which is all fucking golden RpegRpegRpegRpegRpegRpeg RpegRpegRpegRpegRpegRpeg RpegRpegRpegRpegRpegRpeg RpegRpegRpegRpegRpegRpeg RpegRpegRpegRpegRpegRpeg RpegRpegRpegRpegRpegRpeg RpegRpegRpegRpegRpegRpeg RpegRpegRpegRpegRpegRpeg Rp…

Which song do you remember feeling the most surprised about when you heard it for the first time? For me it's either known(1) or bnc Castl, both sounded so different from anything I had ever heard from them before (which says a lot).

Since these were first released I am continually finding myself obsessing over these sections that appear towards the beginning of the later 5 AE_Live sets (starting with Dublin): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LoFcPDJvQI&feature=youtu.be&t=408 These have easily turned into my all time favorite AE music moments as a whole, the bass, drums, ambiences, every part heard so clearly. Really hope they dig into more of this somehow. Also possibly feels like the side-chained bass parts here have somewhat of the same Timbre morphing characteristics as the begging parts of the 2016_LIVE sets from Berlin/Helsinki.....
