Historical documents
by Guest- 9 replies

OK guys, I just saved those Reddit threads of NTS Sessions (the ones used when the sessions aired live) to my hard disk, because, let's be honest, those are important historical documents just like the AE vs. WATMM AMA and we had good fun there. Had to be HTML, because PDF was quite b0rken. Will recite the documents to my grandchildren one day (if only I had at least(1), sigh). Anyone else doing something fanboyish? writing an answer related to Space How V, I realized that the piece is part of a sub-category of Autechre, which appears, over the years, with very similar characteristics. On the basis of the analogies that determine the pieces belonging to this category, is now born in me the difficult curiosity to identify all the stylistic faces that, together, create the indefinable and never imitated thing we know as "Autechre". Many pieces belong contemporaneously to two or more distinct categories, which makes this absurd taxonomic purpose, particularly complex. First I report below the category that I identified in the other post, writing about Space How V. Then, slowly, …

I must say that I'm quite puzzled nobody is really reacting to this. To be frank I have the feeling many are so thrown off guard by this collaboration, they just don't know what to think. Fact is that Mr. Funk isn't the most popular Artist in the game while Autechre rarely have to deal with much hating. I like all three of these guys, so for me this track was a nice treat. For others this must be like a slap in the face, having their honorable british progressive idols collaborating with the rotten amen abusing canadian. Some must now completly re-evaluate their dorky hate lists. It just makes me smile inside. The track itself is very interesting also. Kind o…

That's something I've been thinking about lately. Many describe the music of Sean and Rob as "cold". Some say even Amber or Incunabula felt "cold" for them, and subsequent stuff even would get "colder". I think I understand, what they mean, but on the other side, no, I don't understand it at all. I find it just lazy. Lazy to get into the music and think about it. I mean, today is a really hot day here in Budapest, 30 degrees Celsius in the morning, and I was just listening to Autechre (L-Event and Draft 7.30, so the colder stuff), and you know what: the temperature didn't cool down. Not wit single degree. Okay, okay, they mean perhaps, "cold" as "without a…

AE time signatures 1 2 3

i thought it'd be nice to list AE tracks and their time signitures. (assuming it is not 4/4) I especially want to know the track Cichli from Chiastic Slide and Drone from Peel Sessions. My idea is to bring these tracks into Ableton and try to duplicate certain aspects of them. (Don't worry, I am not that skilled, it is just for learning and experimenting)

breakdown part from Vose In and in the dream it didn't seem weird, like in that dream way you know, like it was just the song as it's always been, but it was cool and my co-worker seemed impressed. Thank you for reading.

Being one of their finest albums, It also has the most intriguing artwork. Lots of annoying suggestive white space! I suppose there be links to tDR artwork for this and the other EPS at the time. A vector Land/ Sea map of sorts... Bloke in baseball cap with his pants hanging off his arse, just tripped and let the burger fly out of his frying pan... or this guy....its always this guy

NTS 1-4: Your favourite overall moment? 1 2
by Guest- 35 replies

So, after you all have partially digested NTS 1-4: Do you have favourite moments, overshadowind... anything? Mine is: tt1pd @ 15:20 till end. Shit totally went down, that harsh, metallic sounds leave the stage and we get a clear impression of that awesome, warbling, pulsating chaos beats... thing ... heartbeats of the Leviathan. And that beautiful sawtooth drone/pad appears. I love the vibes here. Destruction of the earth theme.

Despite being over 2 years now I keep on thinking of better questions to have asked Ae back in the AAA thread Two that came to mind today: - I can usually remember distinct events in my life during the production of some of my tracks. Are there any anecdotes that spring to mind whenever you hear one of your tracks, do they conjure up any life memories during construction? - Are there any bits of older tracks (samples, patches, Max setups) that make a re-appearance in later tracks albeit mutated - Or do you start from scratch for every release ? Of course this is all academic as AAA is long done, but is there any things you wished you'd asked the boys back…

Hey all, About 10 years ago or so I remember hearing an early recording of Sean and Rob DJing old house tunes. In particular I remember them joking about the use of sequenced piano and outlawing it on their show. It was really funny and I'd really like to find it again and take another listen. I've looked all over the place, including on this site, but I can't find anything. Does anyone know this DJ set and/or know where I can find it again? Cheers Ben

Is this the worst track on L-event by a very large margin or am I just not getting it? I have a feeling there's some really subtle changes in the percussion I'm not noticing yet which make it worthwhile. I also sort of have this feeling that it's a skeletal version of parts of M39 Diffain, with the tonality somewhat taken away but the pacing and timbral changes kept It's hard to crack for me
