Is probably the best track on the new album, anyone agree? My general thoughts so far are that some of Autechre's hip hop oriented fans might not like this, it's beatless in many parts but not exactly ambient either! It's spacey and alien as usual and the tracks seem to change in style. Another highlight is FWZE, it's more in the style of techno like Fermium of Untilted. To summarise, after one listen, I would say it's good at the moment, defo worth the 7 quid, although I will probably like it as I listen to it more.

So it is the last week of our little experiment! I will make a thread for the participants list after this week so everyone who is participating keep that in mind and be sure to sign the guestlist when I post it up. Anyways here we arrive back at the current day. I got to say I'm seriously excited and I feel as though the past 9 weeks have thoroughly prepared me to take this album in with 100% appreciation. As for the split between regular/versions/quadrange, personally I think I'll do quari and versions this week and quadrange next week but we're more or less off the hook by this time next week. Anyways without rambling any further, lets go!

Being unable to steel myself for any longer and wait for the official release of the 2016 soundboards I just did a quick and dirty mastering (remastering?) job on the Oslo Bootleg. I chose that one cos it was the cleanest as far as audience noise is concerned, and generally just a really good recording. If anyone is interested here's a link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1XLO3hdjHfpoyZWF48W3e8RoL668zd3ds I DLed the original (24bit FLAC, 48k) from archive.org. I was originally just going to EQ it a bit to mitigate what I perceived to be a bit of nasty room resonance in the midrange and try to boost the definition of the kicks a bit but when I opened it in Reaper I …

I have no idea why I never noticed this before or if it's worthy of a thread but in Parhelic Triangle, the tempo speeds up and slows down at certain points. Sometimes its quite noticeable, other times it's a slow transition and harder to spot. Anyone else here never notice this before?

It was a small segment, featuring The Plc. Does this happen often?

was pointed out here that the beginning of "recks on" sounds a lot like this: run dmc sample at 1:55 is used in a really similar way near the end of "the plc": also there's sort of a whirling sound at the end of YJY UX that sounds like the sound at 6:18 here: thinking of cases where they don't just sample other music--but sort of "recreate" a moment from some else's track instead of twisting it into something completely different. idk if that distinction makes sense.

Easily missed depending on your listening volume. One of my favourite moments on NTS.

I'm sure that some others recall (and possibly have saved) the Autechre Q&A that appeared on Warp's website in the fall of 2001. Interesting and entertaining insight into Confield-era, and the boys were at the top of their snark game as I recall. Anyone have this or know where to find it? I've looked all over at various times throughout the years...

There are parts of Laughing Quarter that sound very similar to what would come eleven years down the line, imo. (But then again Quaristice is kinda an amalgam of what went before.) Envane is just such a fucking awesome EP. Everyone's so quick to go on about how much they love LP5 or Chiastic Slide, but if you ignore Envane, you ignore one of the most vital parts of the duo's career.

Threw this on the headphones - hadn't heard it in a while. wow 95!! sounds inhumanly clean and precise. The filter sweeps on that fat synth line get me every time. Much appreciate the slight little moments when the perfect percussion machine slips up and a click or cut breaks from the pattern. Shows what incredible care these two take and the 808(ish) cowbells at the end always crack me up. This is ae at the top of their game for me - we all love the digi-insanity but this one seems to be the end of the early era but it's still powerful and complex. lush

i've been sleuthing around the gear the ae brothers were using during the mid 90s and i came across some sample discs that were used with the ensoniq samplers they used (eps 16(+), asr10). note that the 3rd disc on the second collection on this page has a sound called "Bowed Vibell." i'm getting strong "Bad Vilbel" from this... https://syntaur.com/asr_slt.html don't worry, i actually found the and purchased this floppy and will check it out when it arrives. stay tuned : )

Joel Ebner wanted to write a book on Confield for the 33 1/3 series, but they didn't pick it up based on his proposal. So he wrote a sample chapter and posted it on Disquiet. It's a book I'd love to read. https://disquiet.com/2019/06/25/ebner-autechre-confield/

Unfortunately watmm disallows embedding coubs, so I put all the autechre related ones on webpage here http://autechre.net.ua/en/coubs/ Coubs are up to 10 sec long videoloops which can be easily created via online editor , so have fun and create your own - I'll add them to a page. Peace!
