List anything you can find about the palindromic structure of TH -- I am hoping it's more than just a fun 'trick' in "Collapse," but has to do with the rest of the songs too. Here's what I hear: "Collapse" has the same structure backwards and forwards (except that it has that honking sound at the beginning and the swelling noise at the end). Tracks 1-8 are around the same total length as tracks 10-17: 29:25 vs. 29:46. The arpeggiator in Gemini (obviously, by definition) plays a palindromic melody. The pad melodies in "Gemini" and "Semena Mertvykh" are not exactly the same, but their structure is similar in the four main notes. "Come to Dust" reprises "Reach for the …

BLEEP torn vinyl 1 2
by Guest unteleportedman- 40 replies
- 3.3k views
I am a US Bleep customer and went through with purchasing TH via pre-order. Well when it came in the mail, everything seemed fine and looked great. However, after opening it I noticed a fairly small rip in the upper seam. I think the plastic shrink wrap was holding down the rip in place as to where I didn't notice it before opening. So now I have sent an email to Bleep support and am hoping to receive some sort of reimbursement for this fuck up. Any other US customers with similar rips/damage? There are a few sites where people are stating similar problems that I know of.

Tomorrow's Harvest - Your 'first listen' location 1 2 3 4

For the dedicated few who didn't tuck into the stream or the presumably now-ubiquitous CD rips doing the rounds, do you have any special plans on where you're giving TH it's first listen? With the fine weather in the UK at the moment (a serious rarity), one night this week a few of us will be heading out to a place in South Wales called the Devil's Pulpit (quite fitting, I thought): (That's not me). The view looks down on to the Cistercian Abbey of Tintern, which should prove for an epic setting at dusk: Hopefully we won't be tutted at/shuffled along by grumpy ramblers. Still trying to work out a decent pair of speakers for the o…

No 24bit WAVs with Vinyl? 1 2
by Guest extrasuper- 37 replies

So, got my vinyl copy of TH. However, unlike Autechre's last 2 albums, there is no option to DL the 24bit wavs, just the 16bit...is this just me? Or are Warp expecting people who have bought the vinyl to pay again for the 24bit version?

For those of you waiting on re-issues of early BOC vinyl from Bleep
by Guest Papillon- 20 replies

Bleep has no plans to re-issue any of the older albums on vinyl. TE, Jun 12 10:25 (BST): Hi Adam There are currently no plans for this that we know of. However this may change in the future, so please do make sure you are signed up to our newsletter to keep informed as it is here that we would announce such a thing first. Bleep Support Adam, Jun 11 18:23 (BST): Are there any plans to reissue former BOC albums on vinyl? Thanks Sent from my iPhone I wouldn't normally post something like this but I've read on various threads people are waiting for re-issues on vinyl, so I just pass this information on. Later

I can totally feel that this whole album is influenced by Autechre tremendously The melody at the end of Sick Times sounds completely Peel Session (2) era stuff And the start of Palace Posy sounds like a remix of something off Envane to me, Tilapia maybe Anyone else feeling this. Lots of other tracks also sound to be very RDJish/AB style as well

boc and children 1 2
by jules- 48 replies

I think the topic of children listening to boc is insanely curious now that I have a little 2.5 year old. beats, colors, numbers, letters, patterns, counting, laughing. it has it all! but this morning. this morning was one of those pristine moments where music and life sync to absolute perfection. I always play tunes for my boy on the way to daycare before work. whether it's boc, ae, radiohead, tool, etc. my stuff. so obviously tomorrows harvest is on and twice in the car, out of nowhere, he goes, turn it up daddy! This is cool! And was kicking his feet and laughing when the drums came in. it was so awesome. this was new seeds. he was digging the intro and when it…

I'm sure this is premature but whatever. What are you hoping is BoC's next evolution/direction? For me, I would love for them to to try and make their "In a Silent Way" (for those who have heard the Miles Davis album). I think it's the perfect time in their evolution to try something like this. In other words, dial the big ol' beats and the "epic tracks" way back, and focus just on ambience and melodies. In essence, it could be like an extended IABPOITC, but with some of that crisper, more detailed TCH and TH production (if they are still keen on that). It's pretty clear to me that they have mellowed out a bit in their "old age", but that's just fine. I hope…

Sort of borrowed the thread from Twoism, but I well remember The Day After Tomorrow ('83), being an American, but I had never seen Threads until I watched it today on Youtube. Pretty perfect accompaniment to TH, I recommend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MCbTvoNrAg And the Day After, if anyone wants to watch that too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUEINQCKLHc

Devil is in the Details sample

hey, first post sorry if it's already been covered does anyone know the exact source of the self-hypnosis type vocal sample on the devil is in the details? I ask because it always makes me think of this actress that was on kids tv in the uk a while ago, she has quite a distinctive tone of voice and accent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3o5QCPG_hw&t=9m may be barking up the wrong tree but i don't think the sample has been pinpointed yet. thoughts?

Guys, Let's conduct our own fan interview of BOC. We can all submit questions, then vote on the best ones, and then start an online petition asking BOC to answer our questions. Keltoi would you be willing to help me organize the voting process?

Not an analogue digital debate. I have a decent amount of records, and my setup is fine (pro-ject, arcam, MA and Focal monitoring, original 7509s). I bought my first record when I was 6 (Come on Eileen) and have been buying both records and cds ever since. My take on vinyl is simple. It adds distortion. Nice distortion, that adds 'presence', particularly to the human voice and some acoustic instruments. It's sometimes more sympathetically mastered. It's not higher fidelity than cd. In theory, better frequency response and worse dynamic range. In practice, few systems are able to take advantage of the higher frequency response. Sometimes a perception of mo…

This kind of pisses me off because the mp3's will now certainly appear on every music blog, leaving those of us who preordered as the only people without the album.
