even LFS, I mean it's not even in the same category. iracing is a training tool for professionnals (Dale Jr, Justin Wilson, Marcos Ambrose). LFS has fake tracks, fake cars, is completely dated, has bad physics. iRacing has accurate laser-scanned tracks modelled to the milimeter, has a great lineup of cars, and is _the_ only way to have real multiplayer racing online.

 

Live for Speed and bad physics?

Are we both talking about the game that's pretty much renowned for having amazing physics?

Fake tracks and fake cars don't mean anything, the cars are based on real life counter parts and the tracks are fantastic.

i've only played 1.3 chapters so far, but i'm enjoying its atmosphere.

something scary about african ghost towns

 

i know, it's creepy. really a different approach in the series, but i like it

You don't get it because you never tried iRacing. When so, you'll understand that LFS is dated. It was a good sim like 4 years ago. Now it's all about iRacing. Once you take the Lotus 49 out to a spin at Road Atlanta, or the Car of Tomorrow on a perfect Daytona with 30 other serious simracers, you'll understand that real tracks laser-scanned and real cars do make a difference. Sorry those fake tracks might work for you, but give me the real stuff. REAL cars. PERFECTLY accurate tracks that are ten times more kick arse than the fake LFS tracks. wtf fake tracks LOL That video doesn't show shit anyway, I can do the same in iRacing... (see video)

 

Why would all these real-life racers be on that, sometimes 8 hours straight in iRacing? Not GTR2, not LFS.

i find it REALLY depressing people are so into 'driving sims' these days and actually want the cars to handle like real physics and shit, seems to take the whole point and fun out of it being a 'game'

i want my car to handle really smoothly and go to inhumanely fast speeds while still being able to do hairpin turns in a videogame. if i wanted to drive a real car with all its flaws and realism, id hop in a real fucking car

 

imo this is the mindset that RUINED videogames forever. when people started to care more about real physics rather than having pure pleasure fun. these games previously to the full shift were called 'sim games' given their own genre name because they were so fucking niche, now practically ever game that has real vehicles tries to be a sim game to some degree, fuck that shit

finished paper mario on the gamecube and started on Metroid Prime 2: Echoes yesterday. Oldschool games ftw!

 

Hell yeah. Metroid Prime 2 was way harder than the 1st I thought.

 

EDIT: I liked the 1st 1 better though.

 

I'm gonna buy the Trilogy for Wii, looking forward to it. I played pieces of Prime 1 and 3, never 2 though.

I race too, I've been doing 2 trackdays a month the last 6 months. I prefere the real to life racing sims too, I get a massive thrill from racing in real life, so I find enjoyment in the sims that come as close to that as possible.

 

You are speaking the truth.

 

However, for people wno don't take driving as a hobby, and merely to get from A to B then I can see why their enjoyment can be found in the nonsensical games, as they too are pretty great fun.

Ah, one of my favourite cars - the Lotus Super 7... would love to have one of those one day when I'm having my mid-life crisis...

i'm not spending a monthly fee to play that game.

quite happy having a fun bash with friends on LFS. (don't need real cars of tracks to have fun)

and i never said i knew anything, i was saying what everyone in race sim geek world knows.. LFS is fucking ace. =]

i just got fifa 10, just to find out i suck at it as much as last year, and the year before that.

 

goddamnit it's all just hold x button, get ball, hold r2, run towards goal, lose ball, repeat. can't dribble for shit either, and on the rare occasion when i manage to push through the defense, i get too excited and hold the circle button for too long and the ball just disappears up in the crowd somewhere.

 

fun game though.
