JR, if there's a substantial response from the Kickstarter, maybe it would be sensible to engage a professional to do the transfer. There are specialists who do this, and the price isn't as high as you'd imagine.

Just as an example, this chap here does full service transfer including machine wet cleaning (you do know this LP is going to be in a pretty grim state if it's been unplayed for 20 years..) and transcription using EMT turntables (which are pretty much the best in the world). He's in Romford, just outside London, and can even collect valuable recordings personally. The charge for transfer is £10 per LP side

Just a thought..

Thank you - that's an excellent idea (and I am sure the guy who I asked to do this would agree). I will look into this further.

yeah it does seem like a good idea!

he'd better not do any messing about with the files though....there's lots of mention of declicking, dehiss and denoise

enough money to found a working fusion plant

Bubble fusion doesn't cost much, well that's if you were after a working fusion plant, not one of these multi-billion dollar super laser that does fuck all plants.

i have calculated that if this level of donations continues for the full 29 days the project will make $788,800.

FUCKING LOL... it will probably drop off quite a bit soon.

I'm in :)

Joyrex, I have a few friends ready to back this, can I send them the link I received via pm?

Are they members of WATMM? :emotawesomepm9:

Honestly, I don't see the point. Unless you're going to give something extra to the first so many backers or something. Which would be silly.

I'd rather see the numbers skyrocket faster. ;)

Oh I agree, yes - no processing thankyou - I'm sure that would be optional (he seems to do a lot of work with 78rpms and suchlike.

I have a friend with the exact same EMT turntable (obtained when the BBC were giving them away - they regurlarly sell now for £6K plus) - they really are superb and an object of jealousy and desire

I've just noticed though - it seems like he only does transfer to CD, so sound quality won't be good enough
