I told the Designers Republic I could whip up the cover art in MS Paint in about 10 minutes.

They told me I didn't understand art.

I was there, I'm the handsome young man who said 'Boom!'.

The Wire posted this on Twitter:

#nowplaying Autechre - Exai (https://twitter.com/thewiremagazine/status/287202155029463044)

And this:

Well, hard to say in 140 characters. It's 2hrs long, and covers quite a lot of ground... (https://twitter.com/thewiremagazine/status/287241215290789888)

so you'd rather have 2 hours of autechre doing the same thing? for two hours?

i really hope it's 2 hours 32 secs of Rob and Sean whispering 'kiosk', with dBlue fuckery.

and then the japanese bonus track is actually the real music they made for the album, timecompounded into a 1 second blip. kind of like Cake music, only better.

fucking hell.

oh hang on, i see what you did there.

that was meant to be a commentary on how Quaristice is samey, right? very acute.

Untilted and Oversteps are 2 of their most concise and 'well planned' albums, I guess as compared to Quari which they even said was more of a live & jam album... I'm really down with whatever, but I wouldn't mind a really well put together concept album.

I'd like 2 hours of Quaristice style brilliance please. And a slice of cheesecake.

quaristice was great...

should I send the cheesecake in the post or through fax?

I liked what TDR did for the chiastic slide and envane covers (in addition to amber). But typically im not too impressed with what they do. My three favorite cover arts (confield, draft & untilted) weren't done by TDR.

And the ep7 cover for that matter.

All the best artwork came from other people.

I liked quaristice and the ep collection, and I think TDR's style fits autechre well, but yeah, overall I prefer the covers of other people, with my favorite being draft.

Remember Draft ? Remember Confield ? Remember Ep7? Remember Lp5 ? Remember Chiastic ? Tri Repetae ?

You know what these albums have in common ?

They have coherence. They have what many music fans enjoy in albums: unity.
