To quote 10-CC's Dreadlock Holiday - i dont like cricket, I LOVE IT and they dont get bigger than the Ashes: Can Mitchell J take wickets in English conditions? Can S Smith hold an innings together if the openers get walloped? Can Jimmy Anderson & S Broad skittle through the top Ox order? Can Inglan build scores above 350? (this seems the most improbable) Whatever the bookies are saying, it seems pretty close to call, but can see the baggy green caps edging it 2-1 (with the inevitable rain-drawn test)

If you use any sort of newsfeed service like Feedly or Reeder, you now can keep up with WATMM by subscribing to our RSS feed - there's a link down in the lower right corner (if you are using the WATMM Classic skin):

A rather impressionistic 20 minute documentary about where techno (the Detroit kind) came from. Soundtrack features Drexciya, Juan Atkins, UR, etc.

Its certainly my most common drug, nearly everyday. Usually in the form of coffee. Next in line is alcohol of course I'm a fairly massive coffee drinker and at the moment i feeling its starting to get out of hand a bit. So I'm looking for someone to recommend a decent decaf coffee. I need to be able to brew it with a cafetiere. Does it taste as good as normal coffee or is it different? Is anyone else a caffeine addict?

Everyone has something they are the best at and things they are effective at that some people aren't. What is your thing and what would be a good minimal description of your personal struggles to implement competence at said thing? Are there any letter-known skills anyone has that you are more surprised that more people don't have, because of how valuable you think that skill is, like a career you've gotten into, topic you study, instrument or sport you play, or some talent you have that was developed over time?

Yeah, so finally grabbed this little gem - sounds absolutely great, with the sort of punch you always wanted the album to have but it never quite did. Bass comes through nice and thick and everything just sounds like, well, the production fidelity most everything including/post Check Your Head. Had a lotta love for this back in the day, really nice to hear a well done remastering job . . . unlike the "re-release" Radiohead albums which aren't even remastered. wtf? Check it out, hot shit, hot shit

Just wondering if there are any Couchsurfers around there ? Couchsurfing is a free community site for travellers which is based on hosting. You can subscribe there and propose a place at your home where travellers that want to visit your city can sleep. You can use it to be hosted during your travels as well. Or you can simply use it to meet travellers around a beer or a coffee. The system is based on personal profiles which have to be the more fulfilled as possible, and preferably noted by some "references" written by other couchsurfers you met. It's really safe and you often meet nice people with it.

The title and description say it all. There are a few people who write insanely funny and/or idiotic shit on Facebook, mostly "friends" I had back in elementary school or junior high. Because I grew up around meth heads and bible baptists, the subjects range from wishing Obama would die to drunken pics taken on their snowmachines. One of these folks, in particular, is comedy gold. Here's his latest: Keep in mind, like me, he's in his mid 30's.

In this thread I want everyone to be nice to each other and post polite and uplifting responses about how your day went, what you found funny or what you bought (a new IDM record or something), and interact with each other in a civil manner. No swearing or insults allowed. Let's hope this one day will be a pinned thread and newcomers will open it and see that everyone here is nice, unlike what I thought upon my first visit. For instance today I bought a pack of daily contact lenses, because I don't like how I look in glasses (like a granddad) ?. I'm also going to see a friend of mine who's going to show me his new KRK subwoofer, and we'll talk about music a bit in…

let me take you back for a moment: https://web.archive.org/web/20070105192457/http://www.warprecords.com/ i remember seeing warprecords.com in its old glory for the first time back in the early 2000s on my friend's computer screen. it was really a piece of art at the time i thought. how creative and colorful, with the _amazing_ logo animation and inventive layout system. looking at it now, i still think the same. think about all the nice websites that are forgotten every time somebody needs to "modernize". really glad archive.org exists and of course, the creators, the designers republic (still rolling with flash-based websites) http://www.thedesignersrepub…

Just tying my luck here! Anyone really good at research on statistics? I'm looking for some help to help me calculate effect sizes or something comparable so I can properly compare the results of 12 selected research papers. My issue is that I've got comparable effect sizes for 4/12 (a good thing) without needing to calculate them myself from the available data in the articles but..the remaining 8 either don't present enough data for me to calculate effect sizes or use another system, namely McNemar test. I'm horrendous at using SPSS and don't really know where to go from here but unless I present results in one universal way, I don't know how I can interpret things…

I was driving home and as I go past the grocery store, a semi truck is trying to turn left. it's off-centered where its rear is in the middle of my lane and the turn lane to the left of me, and I can't get through my lane to get to the light, so I stop early behind the semi. the light is red. another driver pulls up behind me really close. I look at him to see what's up, and he does that exasperated hand thing and shakes his head a few times. he then tries to pull around me in order to speed up to the red light a little bit faster, only to find that he's blocked by the gigantic and clearly visible semi just as I am as the light turns green, the semi turns le…

I was misgendered again in PM by cwmbrancity. I want to make sure this stops happening here and elsewhere online. The first, and last, time that someone misgendered me, I assumed a wide crouching stance and began grimacing. I shot at them as if I was a rocket launching into space and began a three pronged attack - one hand tearing at his throat with a tiger claw strike, the other hand's fingers penetrating his eye sockets with extreme precision, and a strong "Muay Boran" style leaping knee to collapse their sternum. As they crumpled to the ground, blind and gurgling, spraying blood from their savaged neck into my open mouth, I was satisfied that my training eventual…
