I was grossed out by the "crack and guns" theme running through the Madlib/Gibbs stuff

same here, i love over the top violence, fucked up sex and mountains of drugs in hiphop but just like mobb deep this is way to serious and fucked up for me, i would rather listen to hilter speaches on a beat

HIT-crew & Evie B.

Lyrics

Sup Bra
Have you seen my Swas-ti-ka?

It's Black in white, and the symbol of my national socialism

Did you know it has originated in hinduism?

Spilling the beats and the knowledge in yo face

Gotta release all this hatred from my inner cage

Shit, that doesn't rhyme like i wanted to

Fuck you, fuck you, i hate the Jew

Kanye is love, kanye is life

The life of pablo is full of strife

I want to get over my limited perception

That's why I welcome the resurrection

Not of Hitty A, Eva B

But of the phat, dope Dilla J!

Nigga so fat with his rhymes and bass

Spitting the nazi's in their face

Racism is stupid

Peace

Pinata is one of the great hip hop albums of recent years, so far ahead of Kanye and Drake and the various other pop sideshows that inhabit the genre these days.

Isn't it obvious at this point that "hip hop" is just a massive commercial turd? In 99% of it? I thought it was obvious that footwork is the real underground shit. Which makes sense because it's way cooler

yeah and the meta-commentary of mainstream rappers that fans and music critics alike use with discussing it is tiring to me

footwork is a great example, Houston chopped and screwed is another but literally any major city has an underground scene of some magnitude and of course there's a plethora of mixtapes and self-produced stuff from all of the world

Please go ultralightbeam butthurt.

Deciding to be the artist who’ll make footwork without samples is a hell of a statement to make in a way.

Exactly. Do you know how many tracks I could make in a day if I just sat there, pulled up a sample and threw drums behind it? I can’t tell you how easy that is. It’s so easy. I’ll be honest. If I were having a roundtable discussion with people who make tracks a lot of them would get offended, because this is what they do – but I’m just being honest. They don’t explore outside of that. It’s kind of like… I try not to get into that conversation too much, but if you approach me and ask me I’ll flat out tell you. I’ll end up challenging people. I have vocal samples in my tracks, but I make all the sounds in the music. I’ve chopped samples before, it’s not that I can’t do it. To me it’s not interesting. I like sampling, but by moving away from it I can challenge myself.

Love hip hop...yea most of it is gash....some instrumental hip hop is so subtle and boutique...totally geynius...Pete Rocks recent Petestrumentals 2....

Don't understand the footwork phenom...really tried hard with Jlin....just doesn't resonate...also Rashad and Spinn... I want to just can't

It's all good man...I hope everyone has fun and expresses and connects and actualisez etc God I'm so easygoing right now...

I mean, it's like with anything: it can be done well, or it can be done poorly. Sampling is awesome, and there's no way to get that vibe otherwise.

I do agree about the laziness of looping a two-bar sample and putting drums behind it. (And tbh footwork never really blew my hair back.)

He's throwing a tantrum over his album being shared on pirate bay (or it's a rapidly spreading rumor... but it seems like it must be true. Predictably so.)

https://torrentfreak.com/kanye-west-declares-war-on-the-pirate-bay-160218/

“Kanye West is a blithering twat who has an incredible sense of self-importance. Even diehard fans are saying his new album sucks balls, but as for Mr. West suing TPB, good luck Kanye!” TPB staff member Spud17 informs TorrentFreak.
