I'll start... TV SERIES Not to be offensive but, I mean, why all that time in front of a screen watching invented stories instead of doing things in order to make your own life awesome? I like the answer that it's like modern theater, but I see everybody around me totally alienated by those stories still complaining about their everyday life.. no sense at all to me VOCAL MESSAGES Equal laziness, you have to re-listen to everything just to find the info you need. Ok in friends chat, not accepted in work stuff

As many of you know, we will (likely before years' end) be updating WATMM - not only the forum, but the site itself (yes, there's a site) so it is all integrated. This was facilitated by the need to upgrade the forum software, and with the upgrade, it will allow the site proper and the forums to be as one, with content like news, discographies, articles, FAQs, image galleries and the like (like WATMM once had). The forums alone will bring lots of changes (far too many to detail right now in this post), but what would you, the WATMM community, like to see? Think of this as a "can we fix" or "could we have" bug/feature request, so hopefully the most good and reasona…

One of the most wanted man in the world walks into the embassy of a Russian allied and is offered protection, in return he has to give the keys to Wikileaks to Russian intelligence Wikileaks activities on twitter are a bit strange, defending trump and Russia and attacking western countries, today they accused the UK of interfering in the 2016 US elections ... Maybe trump really is this antiestablishment truth seeker guy and western forces are actively trying to stop him on the other hand 70 years of life lived and pre-, during , post-election behaviour shows trump is a deranged pathological liar who uses mafia tactics to get what he wants The world is a…

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/apr/16/super-plants-climate-change-joanne-chory-carbon-dioxide?utm_source=pocket-newtab We all ready know that climate change is the elephant in the room. And I'm no scientist, but Dr. Chory's idea here of genetically modifying plants in order to improve their natural ability at absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere has huge potential I think. Here's her take on her Ideal Plant project: Obviously it's a bit of a wild card though. Plus it would technically be a GMO, which could pose a potential legal and PR hurdle. But desperate times call for desperate measures and all that. Whether this is worth starting a topic about, I do…

I just want to start this thread for one reason: to see if most watmm users work in the informatics-related business for real or if it is just a personal stereotype

At this point, I feel like I've seen almost every supernatural horror film out there (wife and I love 'em - can't get enough). It's gotten to the point that we've pretty much exhausted every high budget/pop ones (e.g., Conjuring films universe; Happy Death Day; Pet Sematary), Horror Comedies (Slither; Tuck and Dale v Evil, Evil Dead movies, etc.) and are starting to scrape the very bottom of the Amazon Prime horror barrel (I'm talking grad school level of acting, directing and production value horror films). We've seen pretty much every A24 film (even though we tend to hate them) out of a sense of duty and somnambulism. So, someone surprise me (or help other folks ou…

Starting 1 May I heard over a year ago that the current emperor Akihito was going to abdicate, but looks like it's for real now. According to Japan's imperial calendar it's still the year Heisei 31 I think (since 1988), but it's soon to be the first year of Reiwa, under the new emperor Naruhito. IIRC the Emperor has no actual political authority, but is instated as a purely symbolic figure. This practice has been official since 1868. Anyway, just a bit of news. Wasn't sure what thread to post this in, so I decided to just make it its own.

Hello watmms, I've had an issue with my hearing in my right ear for the past few months, which is really destroying my love for music and getting me down :( My right ear always has a 'full' feeling and everything sounds 'muddy'. It feels like I can only hear parts of the sounds in that ear (I only really notice drums in left ear, not the right). If I remove my right headphone I can tell there is less noise, but it feels different to when I remove the headphone from the good ear. I've had a number of ear infections over the years, with a particularly nasty one last year at which point they gave me gentamicin to take for 7 days. I know this can be ototoxic, but i…

Anyone ever heard of this geezer? Found out about it on the electrical audio forums recently. This bored American bloke has been prank calling people for 20 years and selling the records/CDs of his best tracks. Gotta admit to being obsessed with this over the last few days since hearing of it for the first time... I know it's wrong but it's extremely funny when this guy makes people angry. He speaks a load of indecipherable babble about digital signatures and paypal payments, then people just explode with the most ridiculous rants

Step 3: Mail your pairing a homemade CD-R of A Few Old Tunes complete with hand-crayoned jewel case cover (or whatever else you think a WATTMer might like for christmas) Closing date TBA, last year it was 1st Dec whi…

Good evening everyone! (grovel lol) I've tried googling this problem and looks like I'll have to go on to the Spotify community help forum, hopefully one of you bright sparks can help me and save me all that hassle. It seems all my edited track lists of my saved albums on my iPhone Spotify account have reverted back to full track listing, for example I usually love about 4 or 5 tracks off each National album, also for example Quaristice is edited and distilled down to my favourite tracks. This has been a work in progress for a couple of years involving a few hundred albums, so I'm not too happy why this has happened. Lucky my Spotify account on my laptop hasn't ch…

recently tried to get into a routine of writing 1 Haiku a day...hasn't worked out too well, so hopefully this thread will inspire not only myself to keeping her lit if you're new to Haiku's generally the most accepted English way of doing them is to structure it into 3 lines with 17 syllables divided between the lines - 5, 7, 5. Usually a haiku is inspired from day to day things that catch your eye - tending to be written in a more objective rather than subjective view point. i'm rather new to it, so i'm sure there's a few members here who are seasoned veterans? so for example: water drops, ripples (5 syllables) bodies huddle together, (7 syllables) sounds of calm aro…
