^ You can get Kernel beers in Kris Wines in Kentish Town for £2.99 and less.

omg trappist west vleteren that's the best beer on earth wtf!!

Ha yeah, apparently.

Got them, purely by chance, in Kris Wines too. Had no idea what they were.

There was this wooden crate in there with unlabelled bottles and I noticed when I was browsing that people kept coming in, waiting by the door, and the owner would grab a few bottles from the crate and the guys would pay and leave.

I asked what they were as I was paying for my choices and got the whole 'best beer in the world' schtick. He also said that he'd only had the crate 4 hours and they'd be gone soon.

How could I resist?

I haven't opened them yet as I need to practice getting the caps off without damaging them. That's something else the owner told me. After you've drank'em, you can make your money back putting the caps and empty bottles on Ebay.

At first I was incredulous. Alright dude, I'm already buying them. Enough of the sales patter.

But sure enough, I checked ebay and it's true :|

Shit's crazy. Totally gonna give it a go though lol.

wow, it's even very hard to get them here in belgium, i only drank one once but it was the best beer i had

A few cases trickled into the States early this year because the monks needed to raise funds for roof patching or sommat. Prices were ridiculously high and it all apparently sold out promptly. I checked in a few places the same day they were supposedly available, and there was nothing left. There's probably a case sitting unnoticed somewhere in Bumfuck, USA, lost in the quickly overturning Coors Light shuffle. I can only dream.

How ridiculous?

These were £10 a bottle.

I think they were officially packaged as gift packs of six (11 or 12 oz) bottles, maybe with a tasting glass, at around US $90.

edit: I was unaware of the selling empties perk, though

Most fancy pants beer I've tried is probably that infinium or maybe a holgate beelzebub. I do like Nail stout though and they do have that in different vintages at my go-to store. Gotta remind myself that these are aussie prices though, so that $150 nail is probably like $60 elsewhere

"Not Your Father's Root Beer".

The place that has it on tap won't serve you more than three.

^ Shit, I just heard something about that the other day... is it like actually an alcoholic root beer? Where do you get it?

not my normal style at all, but i'm a bourbon fan and this caught my attention. like drinking bourbon and eating chocolates while standing over a campfire that's melting even more chocolates, or getting your dick sucked by a chocolate wolf. amazing. i'll probably stumble down to the pub and get another of these later. 11% abv and it tastes too good.

hah yeah, 98% on beeradvocate, wild!

tonight i have been in a French bar (Gazette in Balham - highly recommended if you're down that way - really lovely people) drinking Westmalle trappist tripel bier - 9.5% and Delirium Tremens biere blonde - 8.5%... feel lovely actually - if i'd been on the Stella all night i'd feel a hell of a lot worse, i guess it's the quality of the brew.

yeah i think i preferred the westmalle, but the delerium tremens was realy nice also, luckily both were served cold and in the proper glass by a very friendly frenchman who called me monsieur and said things like et voila! when he poured the beer.

Oh yeah, they are sippers for sure.

I tried Sierra Nevada Bigfoot for the first time. The barleywine.

Sometimes the best beers are available freakin' everywhere and are hiding under our very noses while you're looking at some limited edition super special barrell aged mofo.

It's alcoholic, alright. I had two and I was stumbling around like an idiot.

I had it in Libertyville, IL, at Chili U. Goes down like any root beer soda I've ever. Apparently, it isn't being distributed, so you can only get it on tap in the Chicago area.

Mmmm I need a way to get hold of decent Belgium beers. My local Tesco and Sainsbury are pretty useless though the British beer range is excellent. And those behemoths have made sure no independent wine merchants exist. Tricky.

I'm drinking Erdinger, usual supermarket fare. I'll pop down my local later and have a few pints of Rebellion, very tasty beer from Marlow (Thames Valley) There's a Heart of Darkness link there.
