brilliant musical. one of my favorites that's not the classic rodgers and hammerstein type. i used to really dig wanda (traci lords) in this and i think she's still a major factor of why i love the film so much.

Terminator 2, again. still a supremely worthy standard-bearer for an elite class of post-1990 action films that only admit a new movie in their ranks once every 10 years. (edit: and not one of the comic book shits made in the last 15 years is in there.)

So what else is in there?

for me? The Matrix and Fury Road. that's it. those are the only two movies since that have pushed things forward imo.

first few Bourne movies were good too.

action movies ended with the matrix. fury road didn't do anything new. the matrix was the first and last genuinely revolutionary action/adventure film since star wars. the only other thing that holds a candle to it is die hard.

Keanu.jpgkeanu_key_and_peele_movie_poster.jpg

Gangsta cat owned by a drug lord (who gets killed in a shoot out at the start) becomes a stray and lands up with two nerds who loves Keanu dearly. Their house gets raided while they're out watching a Liam Neeson film and the cat is kidnapped by Method Man. The two nerds plot to get Keanu back by posing as gangsta's. There's a great scene where one of them unwittingly smokes a high grade meth and find's himself in the George Michael 'Faith' video and kitty speaks to his subconscious (voiced by Keanu Reeves himself)

7/10

Oy...

I'd have either of the first two Terminators over Die Hard.

edit - didn't even notice I was literally talking to keanu

I suspected The Matrix would be a strong contender, have to admit I never properly watched that. :psyduck:

A couple of half-assed viewings but not enough to really remember much, so maybe I should give it a go sometime.

Is Snatch considered an action film? If so it deserves to be on there.

I quite like Crank as well, don't judge.

I have a soft spot for noughties action flicks starring Jason Statham films come to think of it. My brain is dumb like that.

It's the shit Existenz

Oh lordie - what a gem! If you like the shlock, this boy packs it hard! Has all the tropes of a b-movie - yet the acting, special effects, story are all top quality. Big budget stuff (for a movie of this standard) Somehow this gets 0% on rottentomatoes but boy is it a goodie! Highly recommended...and guess what, it's on youtube in 1080! huzzah!

does anyone remember a movie from around 2010, about aliens/monster type invading new york IIRC. the camera was often in first person. was very intense and surprsingly awesome despite shitty premise. I try to find it but cannot.

There's the sequel, 10 Cloverfield Lane. I haven't seen it and it was mostly bad reviews from on here but I remember a few people enjoying it. Not sure of many others, I'm far from a film buff but 38 Days Later maybe? There's also two sequels for that I think. I really enjoyed the first one.

Can't think of any others but I'm sure there's loads more.

Where does one find Flight to Hell?

You can generally find Al Passeri films on amazon for a penny (As I did last night when I realised I haven't seen Creatures From the Abyss in years as my ex took the DVD when we split).

But I may stick all my Passeri films up on youtube soon, they deserve a wider audience.

Oh shit, please do!

Both those Cloverfield films are brought out of average by very good LOUD sound design. Watched in the cinema it's a rather different beast.

James Franco's trolling Billy Freidkin a little. Reimagining the 40 minutes cut from Cruising by the MPAA, (Freidkin filmed an hour of hardcore gay pornography which he knew was going to be cut, Billy was trolling the censors) which is weird. Could have been a good doc, but really needed a Freidkin interview instead of having to google him, he speaks of it ''I have no idea why Franko's doing this''
