(I know its more expensive this way

it isn't

(unless you use five different accounts)

Oh it keeps track of what you've bought and lets you get discounts retroactively?

yes.

Pretty much the only track on elseq that I think the average person would find at least vaguely interesting is TBM2.

Where's the drop tho?? Music's shit when there's no drop.

Buying and listening to these one at a time (I know its more expensive this way, but I can't afford the whole thing at the moment) this way I can really take in each track better. Loving it so far!

Same here ! Doing it the same way I'd watch a tv show, one episode a week !!! the AE_Live were just too much to handle and I never managed to wrap my head around it so...

One thing to keep in mine is that an expert improviser does not play wrong notes. A great long form collective improvisation makes every idea count. Regardless of whether this is all belabored painstakingly sequenced stuff or total free jams has little effect on the artistic content at this point. The 'techre bros are singularly confident in what they do on this record and honestly everything sounds like it has swinging dick swagger.

wow. what a different experience on second and third listen. sticked to elseq 1 today and it totally clicked - once adjusted to the vastness of the format its really deeeep listening, strangely engaging yet relaxing.

can see this growing a lot!

Just finished first listen of elseq3

mesh cinereaL is outrageous

All of elseq 1-3 are outrageous

Autechre is outrageous

I guess what I'm saying is that if there is one word to best describe what I'm hearing it would be 'north'

Yeah, artov chain is off the hook. it's the one I currently have of re-listen. It's 3rd on my faves list behind acdwn2 and curvcaten.

So yeah, I've listened to it all, almost twice through, some of it three times through, and it's all excellent. If this is a product of Ae's fan-appeasement process then huge huge huge thanks to Rob & Sean. Whatever it is, my favourite release since Untilted, and part 4 is my favourite of the 5. I can't list my full thoughts here as it would probably get me sectioned...

Some thoughts after reading the thread, particularly on probably-not-purposeful head nods:

13x0 step: Starts out as a rave throwback before being thrown into Ae darkness then back into funky breaks territory. Amazing. Huge grin on the train listening to this for the first time.

pendulu hv moda: Ae tablas hell yeaaaahhhh

latentcall: Instant head-nodder/shoulder-thumper. That second half is soooo Computer World. Try singing Dentaku along. Described the 4th EP/disc/whatever as Computer World for the 21st century...

artov chain: Ae do Burial. Title is perhaps a reference to Art of Noise (as well as obviously Markov chains)?

TBM2: Closest Ae have gotten to porn groove

freulaeux: Ae are opening a fro-yo stand next to their pizzeria imminently

Re. physical releases... how brilliantly shit would all this be as a 5-cassette-boxed-set? It's the kinda thing I'd buy then never ever listen to. I'd also love every track pressed up at 45RPM. Warp should go and develop a >12" vinyl playback system.

The whole accessibility thing crossed my mind too. I don't know why, but parts of this seem instantly rewarding. I look at Elseq4 as a nice gateway into the current Ae sound for any newcomers. All of the above obviously doesn't mean it's pop music, but I think this will become a very important release in time.

With the nature of the tracks (lengths, jam qualities), it strikes me that they may have recorded these whilst on tour together... Interesting, if so, that many are calling this their best work in a while.

I wish I had filmed a reaction video on my first listen(s). I don't think there's been an Autechre release that has gotten me so worked up on the first go.

This is possibly the most rewarding release I've ever encountered.

Ok so I feel like I'm done with elseq 1 for now.

Best track: c16 deep tread

Worst track: curvcaten

4/5 overall

I agree with curvcaten being the worst track, i think the lead synth is my least favorite of all sounds on the whole release, sounds like a cheap Massive synth.

5 days in and this release is going down very well indeed - the standout tracks are still getting better with each listen and a lot of the others are coming together in the usual autechre fashion.

Except...at the moment at least I just can't get on with Elseq 2. The other 4 are amazing but that one just isn't clicking for me at all.

I mean I still like it, I just like it the least out of the five :) has a really weird sounding beat

in about an hour it'll be time to hop in the car and listen to the polarizing elyc6 0nset for the first time, really curious about this one

To be fair, excluding the EPs is a bit of a sizable exclusion.

That's about 9 hours of music
