Was the VVitch set in the States? You get the idea that they are some of the earliest white settlers. The paranoia and delusions about the black goat love the naivety.

The vinyl soundtrack was really well done, and basically a hauntology record.

watched Hellbound: Hellraiser II the other night on the recommendation of a previous post here, shame how poor it was. Really shouldn't have had any high expectations but I did really enjoy the first one, had a very odd charm to it.

If anything it has inspired me to ween myself off the schlock and get back on the 'classic cinema' horse.

It's rough days when your top must watch list comprise of Hellbound, Hollywood Cop and Critters...(still excited to see Hollywood Cop tho! :cisfor: )

Weird, I just watched Penda's Fen for the first time last night. Enjoyed it a lot, but it could've used a bit of a shave.

On that note, watched The Stone Tape recently and that was wayyy too bloated.

I started Penda's Fen and then realised it was something I was gonna have to properly pay attention to and at this point I keep having to leave the room for work bollocks so am saving it for now. It looks neat.

Aw I like The Stone Tape.

Put on 2001 for now. Good rule of thumb for the first 4-5hrs of a nightshift is to put on shit you've seen 100 times before. Hence They Live & Basket Case 3.

It sounds like the director and lead actress are gonna tackle Nosferatu next.

Yes we have Nosferatu, we have Nosferatu today. Lol classic Mel Brooks ?

Hounds of Love - I really wanted to like this, but it was predictable to the point of feeling pointless.

As it was based on true events, the unpredictability wasn't ever main focus, I felt. Acting was decent though. For a low budget I didn't mind it.

lol, it ain't Clooney. Still not seen Solaris.

The rest you've listed I've already seen more than once with the exception of Citizen Kane and Haxan.

Yeah love Import/Export. Saw it the first time at the ICA Cinema completely by chance ie had no idea what it was about. Came out a bit shellshocked after.

Good Time - Fucking sensational. I loved every minute of this shit. The theater had the volume up a little too loud I think, but it made that OPN score overpowering in good way.

That's fair, the film itself never really had me though. Edited by doublename

Yeah I get that, as a whole it had a kind of crime TV program or documentary feel to it minus a commentator voice over.

this film is like what's happening today (cops killing african americans who aren't armed, political climate, tense climate) but filmed in the 60s- with a very "flower children" vibe happening.

this was quite possibly the most ridiculous film i have seen. the film begins with a very dumb bank robbery. the robber then goes to vegas to blow some of the loot- starting with a hooker (played by the gorgeous mai lin). he's supposedly so good in bed that the hooker confesses next time, she'll prefer to do it for free. "well, just for that you deserve a tip."

"i really meet it"

later that day he meets this guy down on his luck. you know how we know this? a hooker (a different one) approaches this guy and asks him whether he'd like to have a good time. "sorry, but i'm busted. i have to pay alimony and i have a mortgage and child support. the last of my money i blew on the poker table. sorry about that"

she turns to the other guy but he tells her "i just spent some time with a woman like you" so she leaves. the guy buys the other guy a drink and tells him he's in a similar position. they go back to one of their rooms (not sure who's) and they hatch a plan to kill one another's wife so they don't have to make the payments. one stipulation: if you fail to kill my wife, i'm going to kill you. and vice versa.

one problem: neither of these two lunkheads considered how hot the other guys wife was going to be- and that they'd end up falling in love with each other's wife. so now what?

directed by porn auteur carlos toberlino, this was his attempt at making "something more serious"  except it just plays like a porn movie without the x-rated stuff.

you're typical (terrible?) 80s b-movie where the poster promises more than the film can deliver. silk (cec verrell) is one bad-ass cop who is investigating some local drug dealers in honolulu (actually philippines). things get a little complicated when the same criminals keep resurfacing- oh and there are a bunch of people turning up dead only to find out most of the criminals doing the drug dealing have their identity.

it's a little convoluted in storytelling (what do you expect from the guy that brought you blood fist 2050 or cover girl models) and completely devoid of any sleaze (i think i counted 3 vanilla sex scenes in a movie that clocks about 71min- c'mon mannnnn!!!)

but it's decent cheap action thrills with some very funny (read as you can literally see the edits and dummy insertions when someone dies not to mention all the blood looks very similar to ketchup)

i had a good time so i can't complain. not to mention the ab-so-lutely killer ost

I can't see anyone surpassing the work of tdk trilogy,

I just barfed a little. These were utter shit.
Just coz I said that didn't mean I meant they were masterpieces or something geez, however I don't see the likes of batman forever in the same light, and maybe someone could do a better job, but you can't deny tdk's impact, putting heath ledger's death aside and all. It was a very good film I thought. You can nit pick all you want, everyone can have their subjective opinion. It don't mean shite though
